Since the beginning of the pandemic, Lithuania has lost 115 vehicles, most of them, about 90, started operating in Poland, according to the Linava legal association.
Zenon Buivydas, Linava’s secretary general, said in a statement that three factors were driving the move on the lawn, the measures provided for in the Mobility Package, the pandemic that began last year and the introduction of new fiscal measures that have aggravated the situation. and worsening competition.
According to the latest data from the association, 3,100 tractors were registered in Lithuania last year, 43% less compared to 2019. It is estimated that in Poland alone, our gardens registered around 1,200 tractors per year.
Lawns just don’t invest in new vehicles anymore. This is a preliminary data, because not all lawns belong to the association and not all transfer their activities abroad with the help of an intermediary, others do it independently, says Z. Buivydas.
According to Romas Austinskas, President of Linava, this is a very worrying trend, as there are more companies that are too difficult to operate in Lithuania and are still threatened by financial difficulties and commercial projects.
Unfortunately, this is not the end. More transport companies plan to continue their activities abroad, looking for ways to earn a living as low as possible. Our companies compete with lawns in Poland, Bulgaria and Romania, where the conditions for business growth are much more favorable. In most countries no coefficients are applied, unlike ours as of 2020. the ratio of the minimum wage for drivers increased to 1.65. The basic minimum wage in Lithuania also increased, paid by R. Austinskas.
Investment in transport companies in Lithuania is declining, but development in foreign countries, mainly in Poland, is gaining momentum. The trend this year will be even greater in the coming years, when companies will make a decision on mandatory periodic inspections of tractors in the States of registration. Lawns are expected to make up for at least some of your neighborhood activities, even for relatively small businesses.
