Lidl is planning in Druskininkai: the old hotel “Sakalas” will be built on the Business site

Druskininkai Municipality distributed a report indicating that on June 9, Mayor Ričardas Malinauskas, municipal leaders and administration specialists met with representatives of Lidl Lietuva to discuss future investments.

It is indicated that a new chain of stores will open its doors next year at the entrances of the Ateities district. The latter is to be built on the site of the old Hotel Sakalas, which has not been used for more than 20 years.

According to the municipality, construction of Lidl is tentatively planned to start in the fall of this year, with the store opening for the summer of next year.

“We can confirm that we have planned the development in Druskininkai and are preparing to build a new store in this city. R. Malinauskas states in the report that the appearance of the store was also discussed and that “standard gray buildings are not suitable for Druskininkai”.

Demolition of the old Sakalas building is said to start in June.

There are currently a total of 49 Lidl stores in the country: in Vilnius, Kaunas, Klaipėda, Šiauliai, Alytus, Marijampolė, Kėdainiai, Telšiai, Kretinga, Mažeikiai, Tauragė, Jonava, Panevėžys, Ukmergė, Utelan, Plung, Plung Plung, Plung En Visaginas and Šilutė.
