The leader of the Liberal Movement awaited the results of the Seimas elections separately from the parties, since he had contact with two people infected with COVID-19. The politician said on Tuesday that he continued his isolation, pending the outcome of the COVID-19 investigation.
“I am doing well in isolation, I work from the Seimas hotel. I already did the test, I am waiting for a response. According to the result of the response and the follow-up” 15 minutes she commented.

Even if the test result is negative, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen stated that he will have to be in solitary confinement for a few more days, so he will continue negotiations on the coalition remotely: “In any case, I have to be in confinement lonely for several more days. Basically, early next week. “
You will have a negotiating team
Only after the results of the Seimas elections were clarified, the Liberal Movement, the Freedom Party and the Lithuanian Christian Democrats-National Union issued a joint statement on the start of the coalition formation. V.Čmilytė-Nielsen said that negotiations on this are still taking place in a bilateral format, the party under his leadership plans to form a negotiating team.
“The consultations have started, it is more FacingBut tonight there will be a meeting of the board of directors of the Liberal Movement, where we will authorize the negotiating team and approve the list of works that we are not going to take to the negotiations, ”said the politician.
Such a list of works The Freedom Party has already done so. Jame – the desire not to increase taxes on personal income, the obligation to hold a referendum on multiple citizenship, legalize the writing of personal names on the main page of documents in all letters of the Latin alphabet.
In 100 days, the party wants to legalize same-sex couples, decriminalize the possession of psychoactive substances without the aim of distributing them.
The Conservatives do not yet have a similar official list.
“The homeland union should in the next few days, I think, in its party structure make those decisions. I know what I would like to bring, but that requires formal decisions and there may be other opinions or additions.” on Tuesday 15 minutes Ingrida Šimonytė, the candidate for prime minister of the Lithuanian Christian National-Democratic Union, told the study.
Easy labor negotiations
V.Čmilytė-Nielsen hoped that the parties could agree on the works quite easily: “I am optimistic about future negotiations as regards its content.”
“We have many points of contact when it comes to education. When it comes to human rights, it is natural to do more with the Freedom Party than with the National Union,” he added.
The Liberal Movement promises to base its list of jobs on the electoral program.
“We will take those points that are most important to us, and the areas that are also most important are identified: education, health, human rights, necessarily tax policy and the environment.
Apparently, we will add foreign policy and national defense to these five areas, and we will have formulated a certain number of points from them, which we will bring to the negotiating table, ”said V. Čmilytė-Nielsen.
So far, the Liberal Movement has spoken in the most open way about the future Cabinet of Ministers and the desired positions in it: the party nominates MP Simonas Gentvilas for the position of Minister of Environmental Protection, and Simonas Kairis, Advisor to the Mayor of Economy and Innovation.
Hides the candidate for ministers of education
The Liberal Movement also expresses the desire to supervise the field of education, but does not reveal the candidate for the minister’s portfolio. Perhaps it is the chair of the party’s Education and Science Committee, Nijolė Putrienė, who has participated in many discussions on education during the election campaign.
V.Čmilytė-Nielsen made it clear that they did not.
“Nijolė Putrienė is our expert who compiled the program. She is a great expert in education, but I would not name …
I will not name any candidate at this time.
You see, I spoke of education during and before the election campaign as one of the absolutely most important areas. Therefore, we are talking about the Ministry of Education being one of the important keys to implement these changes. But I will not name a candidate at this time.
Especially since potential coalition partners are in no rush to talk about the names of their candidates either. Although I really think they have them, ”said the Liberal Movement Assistant.
Perhaps the party’s candidate for education ministers is a man from a country who holds a position and therefore does not want to be appointed in public?
“Maybe”, V. Čmilytė-Nielsen reacted briefly to the discussion.
