Information on the planned LGBTQ + community march in Kaunas on September 4 can be found on Facebook.
The march was of interest to a couple of thousand users of the social network, and it is announced that the edition of the event is currently being coordinated with the municipality.
Wait for the event to be a thousand
15 minutes contacted the organizers of this event and asked at what scale of the campaign is planned, what does it intend to achieve.
“We expect the largest and widest possible participation of people. In the permit we specify between 1 and 4 thousand people,” said one of the organizers of the event, who did not want to appear publicly.
The citizen affirmed that demanding real changes and mass participation in the event is very important, because during the quarantine period it became even more evident how insecure LGBTQ + people, and especially young people, are in Lithuania.
The LGBTQ + community march is planned for the first time in Kaunas.
According to the event organizer, they will be held as a continuation of the Vilnius Pride march in the capital last year.
“Both last year’s march and these are organized by the community itself, without the help of political parties, institutions or corporations.
Only we know what we are experiencing and what it takes to feel safe, be ourselves and love freely, “said the organizer.
He stated that in addition to the march in Kaunas, other LGBTQ + cultural events are planned – weird “Curvas” film festival, debates, performances.
“We organize marches in Kaunas, because a large part of the people in the organizing team are from Kaunas. We take the position that people on the ground must take action.
At the same time, we are sending the message that LGBTQ + people exist everywhere, and it is not just a matter of fashion in the capital. That is why we chose the main motto “We are everywhere”, said one of the organizers of the event.
Due to the painful and noisy homophobia, many LGBTQ + people move to Vilnius or leave Lithuania.
He said he hoped other cities or towns in the country would take action to address LGBTQ + issues related to everyday life and legal recognition:
“Due to the painfully and loud homophobia, many LGBTQ + people move to Vilnius or leave Lithuania and choose to live in emigration. We want people around the world to feel free. “
He published a manifesto, demanding equality
The organizers of the march also released the manifesto of the event on Facebook.
It requires respect, a safe environment, education based on science instead of dogmas, protection of LGBTQ + people against discrimination, the right to marriage, partner and adoption, gender reassignment, privacy, decent health care , competent psychological assistance, the right to choose. the name of one.

We share the full text of the manifesto:
“We are everywhere, so we demand respect for personal life.
We read every day that it doesn’t matter what we do in our bedrooms or how we express our sexuality. However, as soon as it is mentioned, it becomes the most important topic.
It forces us to hide our feelings and demands respect for all others, especially those who have never experienced fear and shame in love.
It forces us to hide our feelings.
We are everywhere, that is why we want to live our lives freely, we do not want constant harassment in the store, at work, at family celebrations, we do not want violence on the street and at school.
Such desires are elemental desires of every human being.
Respect for personal life is the recognition that each and everyone has the right to love, care and responsibility without imposing expectations, which is normal or traditional.
We are everywhere, that is why we have broken and will break the rules because we believe that all people deserve to live without suffering and without pain.
“Be yourself” is repeated to us since childhood, and when we dare, we are punished.
For each and everyone’s right to love, respect and personal life despite imaginary and often unattainable expectations!
We are everywhere. We are not ideology or pathology, that is why we demand an education based on science, not on dogmas.
We are everywhere, so we want to learn about the LGBTQ + community and the different orientations, identities and gender expressions in schools, colleges and universities.
We want to learn about the LGBTQ + community in schools, colleges and universities.
We want to learn about the history, culture and the fight for equal rights of the LGBTQ + community.
We are everywhere, so we want to learn, understand and solve the problems that are relevant to us.
We want the public to be educated about its different members and to stop questioning our right to exist.
We want more information about the diversity of society, avoiding ignorance and hatred.
We are everywhere and we don’t want to hide to get a job and not lose our job.

We demand that LGBTQ + people be protected from discrimination at work and that gender identity and gender expression be included in legislation as the basis for non-discrimination.
We are everywhere and we demand social guarantees for all without discrimination based on marital status.
We demand that the right to marriage, partnership and adoption be guaranteed regardless of the gender of the couple.
We are everywhere and our relationships and families deserve the same legal protection.
We are everywhere, but in healthcare we are constantly discriminated against because of our gender identity or sexual orientation.
Health care that guarantees human dignity must be accessible to all.
We are everywhere and we want competent psychological help from all mental health professionals, not just from the LGBTQ + community.
We are tired of hearing from people who do not know us that we are sick.
We are bored of having to listen to the same spam from people who have to give us psychological help.
Every time we visit a new specialist, we get tired of worrying that instead of inner growth, it turns into conversion therapy.
Every time we visit a new specialist, we get tired of worrying that instead of inner growth, it turns into conversion therapy.
Why do we have to pay for a psychologist’s visit even though others damage our emotional health?
We want that belonging to the LGBTQ + community is not a cause of psychological trauma.
We are everywhere, but the law pretends not to.
We demand the regulation of gender change in the climate and the adoption of a description of the provision of health services to transgender people.

We are everywhere and we want to have the right to privacy.
We do not want to tell the story of our life every time we present an identity document.
We demand that we do not have to go to court to obtain personal documents that match our gender identity.
We are everywhere, but not all of our names are “legal”; we demand the right to choose whatever name we want without dividing it by gender and “standards of good morals.”
We want to participate equally in public life and to be called by our own name and not by the name imposed on us by another person.
We are everywhere and our existence is not a pathology.
We are everywhere and our existence is not a pathology; our trans identities are not a ‘mental and behavioral disorder’.
The diagnosis of a psychiatrist should not be mandatory to guarantee our dignity and rights.
We are everywhere, but we are not safe everywhere.
We demand a safe learning, work, public and private environment, free from bullying and harassment for all.
We are everywhere and our life cannot be a “matter of opinion.”
The absurd accusations of censorship erase our experiences and everyday life, so we will no longer tolerate the cover-up of hatred through “freedom of expression.”
People in equivalent positions are free to exchange words.

Until all LGBTQ + people are protected, the majority opinion of our existence will be a show of power.
The desire to silence people who experience violence and bullying, the desire to take the lead when we demand elementary respect, is another expression of violence that prevents us from living with dignity ”.
Recently, there has been a lot of discussion in Lithuania about the rulers’ desire to legalize same-sex couples.
The Catholic Church and conservative politicians say this will change the concept of family. Although the bill does not address the family, critics say breaches of the law will create the preconditions for the future expansion of LGBT rights through courts that will recognize their association as a family in their own right. .
The invoice is due at the end of May.
