Once cases of coronavirus infection have been detected in schools, their epidemiological diagnosis from now on will not be carried out by specialists from the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), but by specialists from public health offices working in educational institutions. says Rolanda Lingienė, representative of the NVSC.
“The case survey will no longer be conducted by NVSC specialists, but by public specialists who work in public health offices, which are often located in schools. They are the closest to the community, we hope we can do that work more quickly, ”the head of NVSC’s Vilnius department told LRT radio on Friday.
She hopes that decision will speed up case management.
According to the NVSC representative, as before, when a student is diagnosed with COVID-19, their parents must report their illness to the educational institution. The latter should also contact the family doctor, who will determine the duration of the child’s isolation.
According to R. Lingienė, after the specialists of the public health offices have made the epidemiological diagnosis, they will pass information on the people covered by isolation to the NVSC, which will inform these people.
“Nothing fundamentally changes, just the people in action,” he said.
