The mayor of Klaip Vda, Vytautas Grubliauskas, says that around 150 samples have been taken a day in recent days, so increasing the number of shifts is being considered. The possibility of establishing additional mobile sampling points in individual municipalities to make work faster and more convenient for the people of the districts is also being considered.

“Today we are not talking about prohibitions in catering establishments, but there are offers from Vilnius for bar work, we look closely, because the restrictions require the payment of benefits,” says the mayor, adding that the municipality is not ready to pay lost income to businesses.

“It just came to our notice then. Infection management is implemented in educational institutions, but children of different ages and schools attend extracurricular activities. This accent is one of the most serious. There are about eleven chimneys in Klaipeda. There is no goal or I want to close all schools, but it is natural that if you get sick in one class or another, distance learning is inevitable ”, said V. Grubliauskas after meeting with specialists.

Restrictions on self-government of public events have not yet been planned. Still, the situation is being considered, and as the number of patients increases rapidly, the solutions may not be very pleasant.

Gintaras Neniškis, head of the Klaipeda administration, says that changes are expected from Monday.

“We can become a city with more people than the average. Therefore, we refuse business trips, we try to avoid contacts so that the virus does not enter the administration of the Klaipeda municipality. Ask people who can work remotely to do so. The work of the cafes will also be restricted. We ask that people who are obliged to communicate with others observe all security measures and, if there is no necessary contact, avoid it, ”says G. Neniškis about changes in the municipality’s work.

Vinsas Janušonis, director of Klaipėda University Hospital (KUL), says that in Lithuania, when the situation intensifies, doctors are ready for three months according to their needs, and in the following period, purchases will be made. Scheduled patient admissions are not yet capped, but volumes are much lower.

“We currently have 22 patients, 3 of them in the intensive care unit. We are preparing more rooms. We also have a mother who was prescribed COVID-19, but she may be prescribed this weekend. Everything is in order. There are also planned operations, although not to the same extent as before. We put those people to the test ”, V. Janušonis shares his latest insights.

The doctor does not hide the fact that the situation in which doctors were recommended to work in one place has already changed.

“It will not be possible to prohibit this, because private institutions are hired from the medical staff of public institutions, especially doctors. Individuals must control their staff, because not only they are at risk, but also all our large institutions”, opens the KUL holder.

Raimundas Grigaliūnas, director of the Klaipėda department of the Center for Public Health, says that almost all currently ill patients are related in one way or another. Today, 16 people are sick in Klaipeda, another 18 people have been diagnosed throughout the region.

The head of KUL says that the situation is different from that of the spring: not all people diagnosed with the virus are hospitalized, some of them are isolated in their homes. As a result of such changes, there are significantly fewer patients in the hospital, and only those who require constant medical supervision are placed in bed.
