The breakwaters, the gateway to Klaipeda Harbor, were built a century and a half ago. Last repair almost twenty years ago.
After this reconstruction, which is called a historic event in the port, the navigation channel will deepen to a depth of 17 meters, expanding from 150 to 180 meters. This will allow the largest ships to enter Klaipeda. In addition, your parking time at the port gate will be shortened: stevedoring companies will be able to receive ships more quickly, and the less time ships spend on an external raid will reduce air pollution from ships. The safety of navigation will also be guaranteed: even on stormy days, the port can accommodate ships. According to current estimates, the number of days on which traffic at the port will be restricted will be reduced by about a third. This will ensure Klaipeda’s competitiveness as a port.
