T. Balkus claimed that the infected soldiers were isolated from the healthy ones in separate premises, the premises were disinfected and they were provided with food in disposable containers. A total of up to 200 studies have been carried out, about a hundred soldiers who may have had contact with the infected are also isolated in other places. The recruits who had no contact with the infected, according to T. Balkus, were transported to another “nearby unit.”
Balkus also said that the soldiers’ parents are informed that all those infected feel mild or no symptoms.
According to a military spokesperson, the first three soldiers infected with coronavirus are from a single company with more than 100 soldiers.
Cases were identified in a total of two companies.
He said at a press conference later Tuesday that 26 cases of coronavirus have already been identified in the unit, according to the latest data.
“After counting all the cases that we have, there are 26 cases. The soldiers are isolated,” said T. Balkus.
Daiva Razmuvienė, chief specialist of the Communicable Disease Management Division of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), highlighted that nine additional new cases of coronavirus in the military will be reflected in the statistics released on Wednesday.
“We provide data for the last day. “… A colleague from the army provided data for this time,” he explained.
The Kęstutis Battalion is located in a wooded area in the village of Sakalinė. Access to the battalion is controlled, everyone must wear masks.

NVSC reports that in addition to sick soldiers, three of the new infections are related to PravalFest in Prienai district from August 15-16. A total of 18 cases are now associated with this event.
A new case in Vilnius County is associated with an outbreak at the Esperanza Resort. Currently a total of four related cases are registered, according to epidemiologists.
In addition, the coronavirus was detected in an employee of the Montuotojas construction company and in an employee of the Ekonovus waste management company. In these companies a total of two cases of the disease were registered.
According to the NVSC, a person in Vilnius County became infected after having contact with a known patient.
There were also three cases of importation during the previous day.
Two people from Vilnius County returned to Lithuania from Greece. They were evaluated for perceived symptoms. The third import case was registered in Klaipeda County. COVID-19 has been confirmed in a person who has returned to Lithuania from the UK. It has been tested prophylactically and shows no symptoms of infection.
At present, epidemiologists have not yet been able to determine how two people in Vilnius and Kaunas counties were infected. They were studied for specific symptoms of COVID-19.
A total of 2,929 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed in Lithuania, 973 people are still ill and 1,857 have recovered.
A total of 86 people have died since COVID-19 and 13 people have died from other causes.
