420 doses of vaccine were scheduled to be received, but the K cardainiai PSPC car returned to Kaunas empty-handed.

Worn out?

Shortly after the car that was to transport the vaccines had to return empty to Kėdainiai, Kėdainiai PSPC received an email from the Ministry of Health informing it that the vaccines were being transported under potentially unsuitable conditions.

“It just came to our attention then.

We received a letter indicating that yesterday the temperature regime was violated during transport.

The Sanitary Emergencies Center is collecting evidence of changes in the temperature curve during transport.

The discrepancies could have affected the quality of Pfizer’s vaccines, ”said Audronė Rimkevičienė, director of Kėdainiai PSPC.

In the evening, the Ministry of Health, with the approval of the manufacturer, allowed the resumption of vaccination with a shipment of BioNTech and Pfizer vaccines.

Vaccination with these vaccines has been suspended because “the cold chain may have been damaged during transport.”

“Based on the stability study data provided by the manufacturer, it has been determined that the temperature deviation from the transport conditions mentioned above is within the allowable range. The above products are suitable for later use ”, SAM quotes a representative of the vaccine manufacturer.

These vaccines were delivered to the Kaunas Clinics of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences and the Republican Hospital of Panevėžys. The ministry informed these agencies that the vaccination process could continue.
