Karbauskis: the government prepares to allow the slaughter of its citizens

I will be understood by all who have encountered people with drug addiction at some point in their lives. And if there is no such experience, then the new neoliberal government is preparing to do everything possible to bring drugs to their families.

The Freedom Party and its successor ruling parties are preparing for the decriminalization of drugs. In reality, such projects offer to help drug traffickers legally sell one-way tickets to young people. The new government is openly saying that its next step is cannabis for recreational purposes.

No one will ever convince me that not only the small possession of narcotic drugs or psychotropic substances, but also the entire chain of drug distributors, such as production, processing, transportation, decriminalization in Lithuania is carried out only for human consumption “for your own needs”. Conservatives and liberals have tried to push for the decriminalization of drugs for the past four years, and this is becoming a priority for the new government even as COVID-19 is in a tough battle.

And what is particularly disappointing is that the decriminalization of drugs has nothing to do with the freedom of human choice declared to young people. Impunity for keeping ‘small’ amounts of cannabis or other drugs, apparently for ‘their own use’, opens all doors for traffickers to approach the schools or public places visited by young people and remain largely unpunished, to testing ‘own’ or ‘non-own’ consumption often it will not be possible to store or produce small amounts of the drug. There is not and cannot be permission to use ‘less’ or ‘more’ drugs, there cannot be exceptions.

Illustration of drug use

Who will defend the public’s right to a safe and healthy environment, the health of loved ones, and especially the most vulnerable children, when the government is not interested in it? The media could do that and help the politicians who defend the values, but … even the LRT, which has a special public mission, is trying to please the new government. Reports show a twelfth man crying over being arrested for having cannabis. He is presented as a victim of abuse, allegedly experiencing psychological trauma. Other aspects of such stories, the deaths of young addicts, are silent in such stories. Today’s media does not show them, nor does it show how someone’s daughter or son commits suicide because of drugs, leaving a note that they can no longer live with drugs as they do without them.

If in the past the occupiers killed Lithuanians, now that our consciousness is gradually being occupied by neoliberalism, it is suggested to do it by other means. After all, everyone is aware that opening the way to drug traffickers means sacrificing the health and lives of young people through the state itself.

The neoliberals say that there is more freedom in the world than in Lithuania. We must follow the example of others. But let’s see if that’s really the case. The United Nations, the World Health Organization, have long been sounding the alarms, the sound of which was somewhat silenced by the COVID-19 wave, sharing an alarming number of addictions and calling on member states to take the drug prevention. In the new 2020-2024 Security Union strategy states that the European Commission intends to significantly intensify EU action on drugs through a robust new EU drugs agenda.

The Dutch example also shows that the decriminalization of drugs and even the legalization of cannabis is not the safest solution for society, and furthermore, these actions do not solve the problem of illicit drug use. In the Netherlands, not only legal cannabis, but also illicit drug use

it is much higher than today in Lithuania (attached table). It is also interesting that there are more drug-related crimes in the Netherlands, although by offering decriminalization in Lithuania, we are trying to convince ourselves that the opposite is true.

And what do we do? Will we allow liberals to play liberty at the cost of human lives? In communities affected by drug-related problems, damage is caused not only by the impact on people: loss of life, impaired health, and unrealized potential, but also by deterioration in the quality of life of women. own communities.

A healthy person understands that there is no life with drugs, but it seems that a small percentage of those who think differently, with a government like the current one, have every chance of doing enormous damage to our society.

And here are some quotes from one of the portal’s most important interviews with a former addict, for those who think that there is nothing wrong with a spinner:

<...> “I have dealt with many stories of drug addicts, many different people fall into the traps of addiction, from abandoned children to people from seemingly very good and wealthy families. But in my opinion, the problem with all of them is one: the inner emptiness “.

<...>“It just came to our notice then. Drugs involve lightning. The fact that you find yourself in the same drug company over and over again is a sign of a recession that will only increase.”

<...>“Drugs and work or science are incompatible, the sense of duty disappears, your thoughts only revolve around where to take a dose. Sometimes some addicts from wealthier families who get free money can imitate some science for a few years, hide from the family, manipulate their parents. But there is no way to work; You can’t work and wait a week, a month, the money, you need it here and now to get a dose. ”

<...>“Think very well about what drugs can give you, what the consequences will be. The beginning is very innocent and it seems I will try, but it very seldom ends there. The risk of serious drug dependence is enormous. It is walking with the blade of a knife. Most sick people started out in the gym, at a party, and everyone thought I was something special and wouldn’t really touch me. Definitely touch!
