On Thursday, the Seimas intends to start considering various amendments drawn up by different MPs related to animal welfare, with harsher punishments for those who tortured animals.
“We can talk about the functioning of certain groups. The business of raising dogs and cats is clearly being organized. The tools that the police have today are no longer enough. And the money you earn [veisėjai] huge. You know for yourself how much it costs to market a puppy or kitten today. In this situation, we want it to be legal, registered, so that people know that after buying animals, their well-being is assured ”, R. Karbauskis told reporters before the Seimas session on Thursday.
State pharmacies will have to wait
The Seimas was due to vote on the legalization of state pharmacies on Thursday, but this bill, according to R. Karbauskis, will be removed from the agenda and the law will be voted on next week.
“We understand that the conservatives, liberals and social democrats will vote against this proposal,” assured R. Kabauskis.
On Thursday there will be a joint meeting of the governments of Lithuania and Poland, with the participation of some ministers and members of the Seimas. According to the ruling leader, this is the reason why there may be a lack of votes to support the emergence of state pharmacies.
Conservatives and liberals are clearly defending the interests of the pharmaceutical business and are not even trying to delve into the fact that the appearance of state pharmacies does not change anything in principle. It will be more convenient for people to be able to shop and take home after completing the hospital treatment. They will not have to look elsewhere, ”said the peasant leader.
According to R. Karbauskis, the opposition will do everything possible to ensure that there are no state pharmacies and no state bank.
He does not believe that Šimašius will obey the law.
When talking about Lukiškės Square, R. Karbauskis pointed out that there are two suggestions about its destination. The first is to sign a new loan agreement with the Vilnius City Municipality, defining very clearly that the capital’s government would comply with the law on the status of Lukiškės Square adopted by the Seimas.
“The second proposal is to hand over the supervision of the plaza to the genocide center. From what I understand, the government is inclined to deal with [situaciją] in the second option, because in the first option, when renewing the loan contract with the Vilnius municipality, we are faced with the problem that the city is run by a mayor who belongs to a party that wants to legalize drugs. Therefore, it is not natural for us to believe that these people, with that thought, will abide by the law, ”said R. Karbauskis.
According to the peasant leader, if the supervision of Lukiškės square is transferred to the Lithuanian Genocide and Resistance Research Center, there will be “much less risk of tampering with the law in any way.”
“If we talk about values, then the events must take place there, various events and an ice rink can be installed in winter. But there will be no more beaches and so much bullying that was from the people who were murdered in this square there ”, the politician is convinced.
According to R. Karbauskis, the issue of the Vytis monument will probably be considered by another government, but it is not ruled out that the decision will be made by the Cabinet of Ministers chaired by Saulius Skvernelis.
