Pavlius Gaigalas, Head of the Rokiškis Section of the Panevėžys Department of the National Center of Public Health of the Ministry of Health, announced that the Juodupė Gymnasium would be closed due to the covid-19 chimney. The self-isolation of 14 days should close for 234 students of this educational institution, more than 30 teachers and 10 administrative.

According to P. Gaigalas, Rokiškis Sirenai, three symptomatic cases of covid-19 were recorded in the gym staff: one for the teachers and two for the administration staff. “People who felt suspicious symptoms came to the hotline. Tests were carried out. For all three, they are positive ”, said the interlocutor. It was decided to take measures to prevent further spread of the infection, it was decided to close the school for two weeks. Meanwhile, the gym director Dainora Mineikienė stated that she is currently aware of only two confirmed cases. Perhaps the confusion was due to the fact that the person occupies two positions, he thought.

D. Mineikienė, director of the gymnasium, stated that the first of the sick employees of his institution felt bad on Friday, the second felt the symptoms of the disease on Saturday. “Since there were suspicions of contact with a person from Kamaji, we recommend testing. They were positive, ”said D. Mineikienė. According to the interlocutor, both employees do not feel bad. “One said her bones had been broken for three days,” the gym director said of the symptoms.

So far, no more cases of the virus are known either in the gym or in Juodupė. However, P. Gaigalas calls on all parents whose children will be in self-isolation to monitor very carefully for any symptoms. In case of the slightest suspicion, notify the Rokiškis branch of the Panevėžys Department of the National Center for Public Health under the Ministry of Health. In addition, for all families of students, teachers, administrative staff to restrict their personal movements and contacts as much as possible. According to Gaigal, teachers who work in this and other schools are asked not to go to other jobs so as not to spread the infection.

At Juodupė Gymnasium, students will be taught remotely during those two weeks. The gym director explained that the situation was controlled in an instant, so the virus is not expected to spread further. And the students are fully prepared for distance learning, so there will be no major problems and the education will run smoothly.

According to preliminary data, the primary infection could have entered the Juodupė gym from Kamajai. However, according to D. Mineikienė, for a person who could have been in direct contact with infected Kamajis, both covid-19 test results are negative. Other schools are also looking for contacts with infected people. As the interviewee said, people, without knowing their illness, visited both supermarkets and service places. Therefore, the Rokiškis section of the Panevėžys Department of the National Center for Public Health under the Ministry of Health is now working hard to trace the possible contacts of these people.
