Jokubaitis: After three years, the chosen ones will start doing things that we don’t like.

Speaking on the show, the philosopher painted a bleak picture of our society and its relationship to democracy.

“People’s hands are down, and most people understand that this is a formality, a way of spending free time, watching this democracy on television at night.

The problem remains that in three years we will have to manage the ones we have chosen ourselves. We have chosen for ourselves, and suddenly they will start doing things that we do not like, things that we do not agree with. Obviously so. I don’t want to move forward, but this is always the case in a democracy, “commented A. Jokubaitis.

The philosopher pointed out that when the king valued, back in the 19th century, the democrats always said, “now we will choose the best.”

“Because there can be completely failed rulers in a dynasty of kings, but for some reason (this didn’t happen). Let’s hope, we will meet in two or three years, and they will see that those who are now objects of love, they will turn into anger (objects), they will have to be controlled, they will have to throw a spear, they will have to be watchdogs, they will have to be afraid. “A. Jokubaitis spoke.

Believes that democracy must be rethought

According to the philosopher, democracy needs to be rethought today.

“In Lithuania, it is not possible to put content in this way. It is something, people want something, but they cannot say it,” said A. Jokubaitis.

To illustrate the situation, the philosopher used an example of an apartment building somewhere in the Šeškinė district in Vilnius.

“Maybe you had to be on his stairs? (…) Everyone will be renewed in their apartment (…), but nothing goes out the door where the common good begins (…). There is nothing out of the ordinary. They cannot act together, “said A. Jokubaitis.

The philosopher emphasized that democracy in Lithuanian would mean self-government.

“We have to be able to handle ourselves, that is, handle things that are common. It turned out that it is easier for a person, especially a Lithuanian, to manage their own things than some ordinary things, ”said A. Jokubaitis.

The philosopher noted that even students, when asked, are afraid to say why they voted. It is particularly deficient in the country for the exchange of ideas.

“Universities are scarce, television is afraid, people live in fear. Students say they are afraid to say things out loud, “said A. Jokubaitis.

The philosopher regretted that even the parties simply copied Western ideas.

“Those who call themselves liberals, the Freedom Party, they’re looking, ‘Oh look, in America, in Europe, everyone is in favor of a gay and’ grass’ association, why not? ” They say they are free, but this is where they are. captive because they took and copied. Normally it should be that this problem starts to arise naturally in society, ”said A. Jokubaitis.

The philosopher used the situation in his immediate surroundings to explain the situation.

“Can you imagine what surrealism is like? My parents, who are many years old, are unable to access medical care due to a pandemic. And they say, “how difficult is it to get to a polyclinic, to register”. I allow myself the cynicism and say: “It will be easier soon.” They say, “why”? I answer: “because the Freedom Party will soon allow ‘weed’ to be smoked and it will be easier for everyone.” There is a health system, which is a problem, (…) but instead an election can be won with two simple ideas that everyone knew about the Freedom Party ”, A. Jokubaitis was surprised.
