According to the prime minister, British drug regulators are “some of the strictest and most experienced” in the world and see “no reason” to suspend vaccination with any drug currently in use in the country.

“They believe that (the vaccines that are currently used in the country) are very effective in reducing not only hospitalizations, but also serious illness and mortality,” Johnson told reporters Monday, according to the Press Association.

“We remain confident in the (vaccination) program and it is very gratifying to see it progress at such a high rate in the UK,” the prime minister said.

Several European countries have announced a temporary suspension of vaccination with AstraZeneca after serious side effects of blood clots were reported in vaccinated people.
