J.Valančiūnas was not indifferent to the story of the child who could not walk: he met the baby and his family

The story of Jacob Melkūnas touched the hearts of many Lithuanians. Basketball player Jonas Valančiūnas, who spoke with a young family, also wanted to meet Jacob recently, fully contributed to helping Jacob, and even played basketball with his little one.

Jacob’s disability was only made known to his parents when the boy was born. They revealed that the rare genetic disorder and the doctors’ diagnosis were like a storm for them from the clear sky.

“The son of our family was waiting incessantly for something bad in his health, we noticed it as soon as he appeared in this world. Jacob was born with three toes and a shorter middle leg. Soon, doctors began examining him for other changes. We were infinitely scared. All the results of the first examinations were good, but after a few months we received unpleasant news: the child was born without a femur, he was diagnosed with hip problems “, People.lt said Jacob’s father Rimvydas.

Milda and Rimvydas did not give up for a moment and fought for the happy childhood of the child. The parents did their best to keep the boy walking. None other than them, they set up and manage a fund themselves, with the help of which they raise funds for the operation that the baby needs.

“The doctors told us that without a complicated operation, an adult son will not be able to jump, ride a bike, run, live a full life. We want to help him, so we created a charitable fund where everyone can help Jacob. After going public our story, we received a lot of attention from everyone around us, the news of our boy even traveled to Australia and America. Lithuanians are a united and wonderful nation, many people have already contributed to Jacob’s walking ability. Not only victims, but also spreading this story is very saving. “We are happy that so many people want to help our Jacob,” said the man.

Recently, the family also attracted the interest of basketball player Jonas Valančiūnas. A famous man contacted Jacob’s parents and met the little boy in the “Žalgiris” arena in Kaunas.

“As our Jacob is a cheerful and constantly communicative boy, he would play ball with John and laugh. There was a very nice and welcoming acquaintance. We want to thank not only Jonas Valančiūnas, but everyone who helps our family, ”said the boy’s father.

After the operation, Jacob will be able to move freely with the leg prosthesis.
