“I admit that I was able to carry out the actions the prosecutor talks about,” Roman Krugin, a Russian citizen, told the Vilnius Regional Court during the criminal proceedings. He is currently incarcerated in the Vilnius Prison and awaits the outcome of a criminal case against him.

At the time, Tomas Čepelionis, the prosecutor of the Vilnius Regional Prosecutor’s Office, who supported the state prosecutor’s office, said that R. Kruginas had been charged with attempted brutal murder of two people, robbery, serious damage to health, destruction of property high value. , attempted destruction of the same property, with a firearm.

Born in 1968, R. Krugin became famous in 2019. On April 14, when the Iki store in the Lazdynai district of the capital burst into the night and two vendors tried to burn her alive, they also looted the money in the store and injured three more supermarket employees and damaged the property. .

It was only after this almost tragic attack that it became clear that that same day, Krugin had also set the Ikea store on fire, pouring flammable liquid on the supermarket shelves and destroying the property worth more than 70,000 euros.

This is the amount of the claim filed against R. Krugin by the insurance company, which compensated the owners of the store for the damages caused.

In the criminal case, prosecutor T. Čepelionis, who supported the state prosecutor’s office, said that R. Kruginas had lived in Lithuania for a long time and that he had been issued a temporary residence permit with his family. This document was revoked and on April 14, when a Russian citizen sowed fear in the shops with fire and a knife, he had to leave the country.

“He had to return to Russia, but knowing that it was not safe for him to return there, he became upset that day, so he used a large amount of intoxicating drugs,” the prosecutor said. “During the interview, R. Krugin said that he only remembers that he left the apartment where he lived that day with his family, and he does not remember anything, he only remembers being detained at the” Iki “store.

According to T. Čepelionis, although during the interview R. Kruginas admitted all the accusations made against him, he was still shocked by his actions – that the “Ikea” and “Iki” stores, where he raged, were the favorite places that he loved. with his wife and children. to visit.

The Russian national also admitted to the allegations of carrying a firearm, saying that he had kept a metal sword in his car for a long time because he did not want to “hurt the family.” When asked who needed this weapon, Krugin was terse: “Self-defense.”

For the crimes committed by R. Krugin, the prosecutor proposes that the accused be sentenced to 12 years in prison in a penitentiary. In addition, the prosecutor believes that the defendant should compensate for the crimes charged – more than 120 thousand. EUR.

According to the data of the case, it was established that in 2019. On the night of April 14, around 9 pm, R. Krugin poured the flammable liquid brought to the shelves in the Ikea shopping center and set them on fire. After starting a fire, he immediately left the shopping center and, less than an hour later, staged another attack on Jonažolių st. at the Iki store. After breaking into the store’s office premises, where two employees were counting cash, R. Krugin poured flammable liquid on both employees, the room’s furniture, and planned to set the room on fire: he pulled out a lighter and tried to light , but one of the salesmen resisted and knocked him out.

Such behavior of the woman outraged R. Krugin: he struck the woman in the neck area with a self-made sword and wounded her.

Due to the confusion, R. Krugin seized two cash drawers with 4 thousand. 717 Eur and tried to leave the office. But three other store employees stood in his way: in the aisle of the store he lit two bottles of flammable liquid and some of the seized money, and during the fight he wounded the security guards of “Iki” with a knife. One of them was seriously injured, the other two suffered minor health problems.

Krugin ran out of the store after breaking open a locked door, but was soon stopped by police officers in the supermarket parking lot.

The prosecutor has no doubt that Mr. Krugin was going to burn the two vendors still alive, and his main objective was the money that made him come to the mall.

According to the prosecutor, R. Krugin had not been convicted before, but had been administratively sanctioned and his state of health had been questioned during the investigation, which led to a psychiatric examination. But doctors found him healthy and could be held responsible for his actions.

When in doubt, the criminal court had reappointed the test, but this time it was stationary, during which the doctors reiterated their conclusions and added that R. Krugin tended to dramatize his actions, and the experts noted that the man “simulation signs”.
