Israel gives figures of growing concern about Delta strain: how much does Pfizer vaccine protect against it

The vaccine provided 88 percent. protection against hospitalization and 91.4%. protection against serious illness for an unidentified number of people in the June 20 study. by July 17, the Health Ministry said in a report Thursday.

The report states that these data may be biased due to different testing methods when comparing groups of people who were vaccinated with those who were not.

The Delta strain first appeared in India and is now spreading around the world, and governments are rushing to vaccinate people, sometimes infecting and fully vaccinating against Covid. The mutation has forced some countries to postpone or rethink plans to ease travel, leisure and business restrictions.

Israel has implemented one of the most effective vaccination programs: 57 percent. its population has been fully vaccinated, but there has been a recent increase in delta-type infections in the country. The number of emergencies has also risen, but so far they are only a fraction of the peak that was recorded earlier this year.

Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has called for vaccinating vaccine skeptics (there are about 1.1 million) and sees it as the most effective way to overcome the delta strain. The government has also renewed some restrictions on closed events and plans to ban flights to several countries where the number of infections is increasing, including the UK and Cyprus.
