Alqasimehr also said that Iran had asked Interpol to issue a Red Report on Trump and others, a request for the highest degree of arrest. Local officials generally arrest people on behalf of the requesting parties. These reports should not compel the parties to arrest or extradite the suspects, but could inconvenience government leaders and restrict the suspects’ travel.

Interpol is unlikely to accept Iran’s request, as the agency’s guidelines on arrest warrants prohibit “any interference or political activity.” The United States Special Representative for Iran, Brian Hook, also drew attention to this, who rejected the report during a press conference in Saudi Arabia on Monday.
