Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė continues her visit to Visaginas, following regions widely inhabited by national minorities. Before that, the Head of Government was already in Švenčionys and Nemenčinė (Vilnius district). During these visits, the Prime Minister is interested in the success of the vaccination process in these regions.

According to the Prime Minister, one of the barriers that makes it more difficult to encourage older people to get vaccinated in this municipality is the language: part of the population only speaks Russian. This challenge is promised.

“We have agreed on certain things that the government will try to do and help the municipality. The first thing to talk about would be professional information in Russian about the benefits of vaccination and the answers to questions that a person might want to ask a doctor. We try to take into account that some people do not take information from Lithuanian sources, sometimes they take it from sources in other languages and that the information is not necessarily reliable, ”said I. Šimonytė.

He said that it is sometimes difficult for residents to tell the truth due to the abundance of information and liars.

“It is trustworthy with falsehoods or other forms of misinformation. I think this is a very relevant observation, we will try to provide as much information as possible to our national minorities in those languages in which it is easier for them to receive that information, ”emphasized I. Šimonytė.

Speaking to the media in Visaginas, I. Šimonytė also addressed the population in Russian.

“Dear Visaginas neighbors, I believe that we are all tired of living in circumstances that severely limit our various daily affairs (meetings and communication). Therefore, I strongly invite those who have the opportunity, to take advantage of the opportunity that science offers us, and to protect, firstly, ourselves, and secondly, our loved ones, those around us, from diseases. and complex complications, and society as a whole, which, unfortunately, still apply, “said I. Šimonytė.

Vaccine stocks are running low

When asked if vaccine stocks will be redistributed among municipalities over the weekend, as some districts no longer have them, I. Šimonytė replied that vaccine stocks remained low overall.

“The Ministry of Health (SAM) could say if there is something to redistribute. Many municipalities have already run out of vaccines, at least as much as I looked at this morning, at least Pfizer. There will be some supply for AstraZeneca over the weekend, but SAM still has nothing to distribute and redistribute because the pace has accelerated very sharply in all municipalities, ”said the Prime Minister.

At the same time, he stressed that new shipments of vaccines would arrive in Lithuania again next week.

“The new shipments will arrive next week and those shipments will also need to be vaccinated just as quickly,” said I. Šimonytė.
