Even before saying goodbye, all visitors were asked to comply with quarantine requirements to protect themselves and those around them.

A St. Joseph Church is currently elected by the family, friends and comrades of K. Vitkus.

Continuing with the dear prof. In the tradition of K. Vitkus’s wife, aa Daiva Vitkienė-Reimerytė, the professor’s relatives asked that those who come to say goodbye to the deceased choose to bring a sacrifice instead of flowers, which will be given to the large families of the parish . supported by the Vitka family. Current account no. LT687300010146082675 (Parish of Saint Joseph of Vilnius).

The funeral of Professor K. Vitkus will be held only among the closest relatives.

The surgeon’s death was confirmed on the Delfi portal at the beginning of last week by the professor’s daughter, Vita Degutienė. The woman said that the famous doctor was suddenly surprised while in Birštonas.

“Our hearts cry when we lose you in pain, Beloved Father, brother, grandfather, uncle. You are gone, but you will live forever in our minds and hearts. Rest in peace, “the family said in a statement.

The professor died unexpectedly when his heart stopped. Until the last days, he was active: he worked, he taught at the university.

“He had to go home tomorrow after rehabilitation. And here so unexpectedly … Or a heart attack, or a thrombus. He is healthy, we had many plans of all kinds. Completely unexpected”, – commented the late daughter Vita Degutienė about the difficult words “Delfi”.

He said that he had been in contact with his father on the eve of his death and assured that the conversation had not raised suspicions about the deterioration of his condition.

“We call ten times a day, we talk to the video,” he said.

According to her, Dad never liked complaining about his health, but had hinted at difficulties during post-operation treatment.

“It just came to our attention then. I tell him,” Dad, you’ve never had surgery; once you’ve broken your leg, you don’t know how difficult it is to recover from surgery, it takes time. “He’s a surgeon. Even after the operation, his legs weren’t” awake “and he was already trying to move them. Doctors performed a great miracle. After the operation, everything went well. During the rehabilitation period, if the gym was not open on weekends, he would ask for the keys and still get up early and start exercising, “said V. Degutienė.

According to the surgeon’s daughter, he and his family had planned to go to the farm for the weekend.

“We have such a large farm, both dogs and llamas … It has been very optimistic now and always. Although we have suffered losses, we have never lost our positivity,” said the woman.

It was while working on the farm that the man was ill.

“Because there was a quarantine in the winter, he spent a lot of time on the farm. There really is a lot of farm work there. Before that, in the fall, while he was trying to stretch the boat, he had a hernia in his chest. This is a very rare condition that requires rare surgery. So the doctors really did a miracle that he operated on him so successfully. Now there was the task: all the rehabilitation to be fully upright. Tomorrow I had to go home and lo and behold, this morning it happened … ”said her daughter.

According to the interlocutor, the family has already started planning their father’s farewell and his body is going to be cremated.

“We will say goodbye next week to priest Richard Doveik in the new church, and then in the family circle we will take him to the farm, to the chapel, where his mother and brother are buried,” said the woman.

A little later, V. Degutienė also announced the cause of his father’s death.

“Daddy’s last dream has also come true … With a smile, hundreds of planned good deeds and without suffering to go to your loved ones … Pulmonary embolism. As He called it, real death … He taught us every day to enjoy the little moments of everyday life and to appreciate the moment that is called “now”. Perhaps this is the happiness and strength of our family. Let’s not cry, let’s not be sad, but let’s remember only the most beautiful and fun moments that we have lived with Him. Let’s communicate and enjoy our loved ones in this life. In prayer, “the deceased’s daughter wrote sensitively.
