In the last week of February, vaccinations of older people in Klaipėda district start.

If the elderly person is unable to attend, a transportation service from their home to the vaccination site should be offered or requested. Vaccination is voluntary and both the vaccine and the vaccination service are free.

At the beginning of next week, almost 600 more vaccines will reach the medical institutions of the Klaipėda district: 300 AstraZeneca and 294 Pfizer. As the country expands vaccination coverage, so does the circle of vaccinated people. To date, social workers, residents of care institutions, doctors and pharmacists have been vaccinated in the district, and the vaccination of employees of educational institutions will be completed next week.

And starting next Tuesday, older adults in Klaipėda district who so wish will be able to get vaccinated. For your convenience, the process has been adjusted so that older people do not have to do anything. Is that how it works:

Over the next several days, the family nurse will contact each person individually by phone.

If the elderly person wishes to be vaccinated, the nurse will record it and agree on the time and place of the procedure.

For those who do not have access to the vaccination site, the nurses should inform you that a transportation service is available. Otherwise, the major may request it himself. Transportation will be provided by the Klaipėda District Municipality.

Please note that treatment center staff will not ask their patients to provide electronic bank details, personal identification number, and other personal information. If you encounter such a request, please do not disclose this information in any way, as it may be a phone scam.

We remind you that vaccination is voluntary, and both the vaccine and the vaccination service are free. The vaccines given are safe, but side effects such as pain, redness, swelling at the injection site, headache or muscle aches, tiredness, fever can occur. These signs indicate that the immune system is working and learning to recognize and destroy the virus. Side effects usually go away in a couple of days. If these symptoms persist, it is recommended to consult a family doctor. Our country uses vaccines approved by the institutions of the European Union. Millions of people around the world have already been vaccinated with these vaccines.
