The case found that VB had struck a victim with a bottle of champagne in a bag at the mall in the area of the head, causing minor health problems.

VB confessed to having committed a crime and demonstrated during the court hearing that due to the prevention of the coronavirus in the store it was necessary to wear a protective mask, to keep the distance. He stood in line at the yellow line near the cash registers, wearing a protective mask. The woman in line began to complain to her husband about parking and wearing a mask. Because he wears glasses and they spray while wearing the mask, he did not cover his nose. The woman did not like that explanation and hit him with a steering wheel in the face. The man wasn’t expecting it, so he impulsively hit her with the bag backwards, only to forget it contained a bottle of champagne.

In imposing the sentence, the court took into account the degree of seriousness, nature, form, type and motives and purposes of the crime committed – due to impulsive, spontaneous reaction, personality of the accused – positively qualified as a worker, family member, illegal, without valid administrative sanctions. VB’s responsibility was mitigated by two circumstances: he confessed and regretted the commission of the crime, and the commission of the crime was influenced by the provocative behavior of the victim, placing a paper (printed) brochure on the man’s face.

The man was found guilty and asked to stay home for six months from 10 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The judgment can be appealed to the Klaipėda Regional Court within twenty days from the delivery date of the judgment through the Klaipėda City Hall of the Klaipėda District Court.
