In the last day, 4,280 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified in the country and 76 people infected by coronavirus have died.

On Wednesday, there were 3,003 new infections registered and 75 patients died.

The total number of people infected with the coronavirus in the country has risen to 111,599 since the epidemic began in March and 2,876 people have died, authorities said.

According to the Ministry of Health, among the most recent victims are people between 47 and 99 years old. Eight of them were directly attributed to coronavirus infection, while the other 68 also had comorbidities.

The day before, 58 deaths of COVID-19 patients and 2,236 new infections were recorded in Poland. The previous maximum number of new COVID-19 cases detected in a single day was recorded last Saturday, when the disease was confirmed in 2,367 patients.

As of Tuesday morning, 4,000 patients with coronavirus infection were still being treated at the country’s medical facilities, 283 of whom required artificial lung ventilation.

A total of 76,490 people have recovered from COVID-19 in Poland to date, including 1,144 in the last day, according to the Ministry of Health.

The Polish health minister warned on Tuesday that the rapidly increasing number of infections in the country would lead to “zero tolerance” for people who violate sanitation rules and that violators would be “severely punished.”

From Saturday, protective masks will be mandatory in public places and outdoors throughout Poland, public broadcaster TVP Info said.
