The youngest Covid-19 patient to date died of coronavirus on Thursday at LSMU Kaunas clinics. A person belonging to the age group 21-30 was brought to Kaunas from Marijampolė and spent more than a month here in resuscitation.

“According to our data, the man died in the LSMU Kaunas clinics. He was first admitted to the Marijampol hospital, from where he was later transferred to Kaunas. He belonged to the 21-30 age group,” said Justina Petravičienė, representative of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), to the news portal tv3.lt.

The death of this person will be included in Friday’s statistics.

“A caretaker from the Kaunas clinics gave this information to our specialists in the morning around 7 o’clock,” J. Petravičienė told the BNS news agency.

According to her, according to preliminary data, the deceased had no comorbidities. This person’s coronavirus infection is associated with a family outbreak. “It just came to our knowledge then. And they had quite complicated forms, they also needed hospital treatment”, – commented J. Petravičienė.

The news portal tv3.lt recalls that last day 3,330 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed, 31 people died of COVID-19, the Department of Statistics reported this Thursday.

This is the highest number of new confirmed cases per day since the start of a pandemic.
