“We were friends and colleagues. And yes. However, there is a very large loss. So. When a person is sick, they can accept that illness and hope that something will go wrong, as they say. Inevitable. And here the person was completely healthy, ”says Eglė Petrošienė, a colleague of the deceased doctor.
No one can say exactly how the dead doctor became infected with the coronavirus. He suspects it from an 81-year-old patient who, according to unofficial knowledge, has already died from the same virus. When she learned that she was ill on October 15, the doctor isolated herself.
At first she felt fine, but last week her health began to deteriorate rapidly, last Sunday she was transferred by ambulance to the Klaipeda hospital, where yesterday the life of a 68-year-old woman came out.
“She was a very good friend, a very good doctor. He likes both patients and colleagues. Comrade. He never refused to help, wake up or change. He was always ready to help everyone, both a friend and a stranger, ”says E. Petrošienė.
Apparently, because of these qualities, Jevgenija Mickienė and all Šilutė are in mourning. When Medike died, this message surrounded the city.

It is suspected that another doctor at this institution contracted the same patient, but she is fine.
And representatives of the National Center for Public Health cannot say whether the family of a doctor who may have contracted and died from a coronavirus at work will receive any monetary compensation.
When choosing a profession, doctors take the Hippocratic Oath: they promise to serve people with possible consequences. Unofficial doctors say the families of doctors who have died from the coronavirus are unlikely to receive financial help from the state because it is difficult to show that the doctor is contracting the infection at work.
Currently, one hundred and a half doctors suffer from coronavirus in Lithuania. Since the start of the pandemic in the spring, more than a thousand doctors in our country have been infected with the virus.
