The incidence of COVID-19 in the country is the third highest in 14 days of growth in Europe. The quarantine introduced in Lithuania has not yet produced the desired results. Morbidity rates are increasing throughout November. This is also recognized by Acting Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis.
“We can make particularly strict restrictions, but if we don’t follow them, there will be no results. That is what it is now, if we stick with it, it would be the next outcome. Take additional action again if we need to see the situation again. Other considerations will be necessary measures, ”says S. Skvernelis.
However, what restrictions can help Lithuania neither Skvernelis nor Veryga can imagine at the moment.
“The biggest problem is that those celebrations that we cannot celebrate in restaurants and cafes are transferred to the immediate environment. Propagation of a family or close environment. Not only the interim government does not know, but also the new one, which is currently being formed by Ingrida Šimonytė. It is true that the prime minister-designate has no mercy on the bitter government and the National Center for Public Health.

The problem is that the national public health center cannot say where the risk is greatest, where restrictions should be applied, without any control over the situation. Šimonytė promises to speak with experts next week, where he will try to find ideas on how to handle the pandemic. The presidency has ideas, but they are not yet done.

The second quarantine for the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Lithuania was introduced on November 7 for three weeks, but it lasted until mid-December without the situation improving.
