In Lithuania – 1919 new cases of coronavirus, 10 people died

In hospitals: more than 2.3 thousand. COVID-19 patients

Hospitals treat 2,328 coronavirus patients, 191 of them in resuscitation. 1301 patients need oxygen, 112 people are covered by artificial lung ventilation.

Currently, approximately half of the hospital beds are occupied: 8,377 of the 16,000. 560.

Of the 685 resuscitation beds, approximately two-thirds are occupied, 408. Of the 637 beds that can be used for artificial lung ventilation, 247 are occupied and of the 6185 oxygen beds, 2319 are occupied.

Most of the new deaths were recorded in Vilnius County

The highest number of deaths from coronavirus last day was recorded in Vilnius county. Four people died here, two more died in Tauragė, one in each of Klaipėda, Panevėžys, Marijampolė and Alytus counties.

The dead ranged in age from 50 to 89. Half of the deaths, five, were in the 80 to 89 age group.

Six women and four men died last day.

On Sunday, the government, after several hours of consultation with health experts, decided on January 31. extend the quarantine announced by the previous government but tighten it drastically.

Since Wednesday, December 16, it was decided to restrict the exit outside the place of residence, prohibit trips to other municipalities, prohibit contacts between families, prohibit the operation of stores that are not groceries, end the provision of contact services. President Gitanas Nausėda says he supports the stricter quarantine measures approved by the government.

Professor Vytautas Kasiulevičius, speaking about the spread of the virus, presented six ways to control it. According to the professor, the most important thing is to reduce the movement of people.
