Loreta Venckienė, chief physician of the Klaipėda Municipal Polyclinic, explained that the second vaccination dose stalled because a shipment of Pfizer vaccines did not reach the port city.
“The problem is that we should only receive one shipment of Pfizer vaccines today, it was two days late. We expect the shipment to arrive in Klaipeda on Wednesday evening. The second dose should not be given before 21 days after the first vaccination. However, there is an additional month for the booster vaccination, ”explained L. Venckienė.

Two thousand doses are to be administered to the Klaipeda City Polyclinic. The Seafarers’ Health Center should also receive the same.
“I don’t know how many such retirees there might be, but it should be noted that we didn’t invite them to get the booster shots because we knew we didn’t have the vaccine. You shouldn’t run anywhere unnecessarily. Let people wait for a call to the doctor. After all, we don’t know if the vaccine shipment actually reached Lithuania, “explained L. Venckienė.
Vaccination without registration
Vaccination with the AstraZeneca vaccine, which will be used to vaccinate merchants, will begin today and tomorrow, and they do not need to register in advance.
“Traders have not yet been vaccinated, they are invited as a priority group, we will see how we will achieve this,” said Jūratė Beinorienė, chief nurse of the Seafarers’ Health Center and coordinator of the vaccination center.
They are only welcome at the vaccination center on Galinio Pylimo street.
Some of those who have previously abandoned the AstraZeneca vaccine are also expected to get vaccinated this week.
“We did not have the full range of vaccines last week. We also plan to have Pfizer-BioNTech this week, explained J. Beinorienė.
Vaccination centers hope that the vaccination of citizens will accelerate with the introduction of vaccines for cashiers, vendors and other merchants.
The vaccine did not explode
And over the holiday weekend, graduates and teachers weren’t tempted to get vaccinated even with the Pfizer vaccine.
Teachers and graduates vaccinated according to the list in Klaipeda on Saturday and Monday were extremely slow.
“It just came to our notice then. We actively looked for them, but they didn’t offer to show up. Our staff was sitting down, everyone was waiting at work and there was no workload”, – L.Venckien doctor, chief physician of the Polyclinic Klaipėda Municipal, did not hide his disappointment.
Employees of educational institutions vaccinated during the holidays, unlike officials who remain vaccinated, had the opportunity to choose not only the AstraZeneca vaccine, but also Pfizer.
However, of the nearly 1,000 doses of vaccine prepared at both vaccination centers, only 611 were used in two days in Klaipeda.
“It turns out that some did not want to be vaccinated at all, even though they were on the lists. Others did not want to come, although we agreed, we did not vaccinate on Easter, because everyone said in advance that they would not want to be vaccinated during the holidays, ”said L. Venckienė.
Almost 13 percent of Klaipeda residents have been vaccinated with the first dose of COVID-19 and 6 percent with the second dose.
