Important for travelers: change the self-isolation procedure

The Cabinet decided to drop 25 cases for every 100,000. population and include in the list of affected countries those with a prevalence at least 10% higher than in Lithuania. People from those countries will be required to isolate themselves.

“The list of affected countries will include countries with a morbidity greater than 10%. and more morbidity in Lithuania, ”Interior Minister Rita Tamašunienė said in the government on Wednesday.

Additional criteria are expected to be included in the assessment of the obligation to isolate arrivals from third countries: indicator of test volumes, percentage of positive test results, availability of information, rate of hospitalization.

Until now, countries affected by coronavirus have been considered to have countries with a prevalence of 100,000. the population reaches 25 cases. Isolation for 14 days is mandatory for people arriving or passing through the affected countries, with certain exceptions.

Travelers abroad are encouraged to take an interest in isolation

New restrictions are introduced for Lithuanian travelers in Cyprus and Latvia. The Ministry of Health (SAM) encourages travelers abroad to inquire about restrictions, entry conditions and isolation in the destination country.

Cyprus made a decision on October 9. to add Lithuania to the list of affected countries for which a person must provide proof of a negative result of a coronavirus test. The test must be performed by a certified laboratory no earlier than 72 hours before the flight.

There are also restrictions in neighboring Latvia. From October 12. All travelers crossing the border into Latvia must fill out an electronic form and save the QR code. The questionnaire must be completed no earlier than 48 hours before crossing the border with Latvia.

In the questionnaire, the person must indicate their name, surname, personal identification code, contact telephone number and real residence address, as well as the countries and dates of departure that the person has visited during the last 14 days before their arrival in Latvia. The questionnaire must be completed separately for each adult, and for parents, parents or legal guardians must complete the questionnaire.

Lithuania has had additional restrictions or requirements when crossing the borders of other EU countries in the past. Finland, for example, responded to the increased incidence of coronavirus infection in Lithuania on October 18. it renewed internal border controls and started restricting the entry of other EU countries, including Lithuania. Now only foreigners who legally reside, work, study or travel for family reasons, such as weddings, funerals, etc., can enter the country. At the border checkpoint, Finnish officials request proof of the purpose of the trip.

Some EU countries assess not only the morbidity rates of a country as a whole, but only the morbidity of a particular region. For example, the German Ministry of Health has included the Šiauliai region in the list of sites affected by the coronavirus; those arriving from this region are subject to the isolation requirement. Other regions of Lithuania are not included in the list of risk areas in Germany, and isolation and other virus management measures are not applied on arrival.

117 new cases

Two people died of Covid-19 in Lithuania last day, 117 new cases were identified, the total number of diseases in the country reaches 5,483, the Ministry of Health reported on Wednesday. Two deaths from coronavirus were recorded in Šiauliai county, and most new cases were in Kaunas county.

Currently, 2,761 people are still infected with the coronavirus and 2,600 have recovered.

A total of 101 people died from the coronavirus infection and 21 from other causes.
