“In mid-February, I conducted an annual evaluation of the activities of the director of the NVSC. I rated that activity unsatisfactory. The manager, as required by law, seized the opportunity and approached the appropriate commission. At the end of yesterday’s work, I received the conclusions of that commission, which confirmed my assessment. For this reason, today I will sign an order, by which R. Petraitis will be removed, ”said the minister.
According to him, R. Petraitis will leave the post on March 10, and Giedrė Aleksienė, Head of the Department of Communicable Diseases at NVSC, will temporarily run the center until a permanent head is found.
Lrytas.lt recalls that at the beginning of January, the Minister of Health A. Dulkys instructed R. Petraitis to resign voluntarily, but when he refused to do so, an official inspection was initiated.
NVSC’s management has been criticized by more than a thousand. Deaths related to the coronavirus are not counted. R. Petraitis, head of the institution, stated that the situation is not due to the lack of the institution that manages it, but to the lack of timely information provided by the hospitals.
