According to the head of government, all possible side effects are described in the vaccine information material.

“We certainly would not allow the use of unsafe vaccines, but we are monitoring the situation. Vaccination of AstraZeneca has practically only started these weeks, because it arrived in Lithuania itself very recently. We do not have a detailed assessment of the proportion of people who experienced these symptoms. of the general sample of the vaccine. But of the use of practically any medicine, some people usually take a sample “, said I. Šimonytė in the press conference.

“Therefore, it is very important that people report those feelings, well, or to the director, this is their own decision. But first of all, to the institutions that are responsible for control,” said the Prime Minister.

Questions about vaccinating the elderly with AstraZeneca arose when the European Medicines Agency authorized the vaccine in late January, noting that there were not yet enough studies on whether the vaccine provided effective protection for people over 55 years of age.

Discussions on social media by some vaccinated people have also sparked discussions about the side effects of vaccines.

The Ministry of Health announced this week that AstraZeneca will be available to all adults, regardless of age.

The first shipments of the vaccine have been received in Lithuania, mainly employees of schools and kindergartens vaccinate it.
