The president decided to approve the candidate for Minister of Health Arūnas Dulkis, because I. Šimonytė took personal responsibility for him.

The Prime Minister presented her comments to the media later in the Seimas.

I think they were all good

Asked how he evaluates G. Nausėda’s decision on which of the ministerial candidates to approve and what to reject, I. Šimonytė said that, according to the Constitution and the interpretation of the Constitutional Court, he approves the list presented by the Prime Minister.

“The list is now officially available and today we had some discussions about whether changes can be made to that list and some changes have been agreed. I will still have to provide a revised list, which the president could already sign, because, as you know, the President cannot remove names from the list, approve a non-exhaustive list, or change that list in some other way, because that is the prime minister’s prerogative. I see this as a laborious conversation and simply an agreement that has been reached and, I hope, it will be implemented ”, he commented.

I. Šimonytė stated that there is probably no person on whom it is not possible to comment.

At the same time, the Prime Minister explained that she had not yet seen such a discussion of ministerial candidates, which took place during the formation of this Government.

He stressed that the qualities of individual candidates were not so widely discussed.

“The president has the right to comment, no doubt. But somehow things used to be a little different before,” said the Head of Government.

Somehow, a little different things were happening before.

I.Šimonytė thanked both K. Adomaiitis and D. Miniataitė, who agreed to be nominated as candidates for ministers.

He emphasized confidence in his competence.

According to her, for example, the former candidate for agriculture minister is a very professional civil servant with more experience than many people combined.

New candidates will be sought for ministers of agriculture and transport. I. Šimonytė promised to name their surnames “when they can name them.”

At the same time, the prime minister explained that she did not have to agree with all the comments made about her nominated candidates.

“If I suggest them, then I have to think that I thought I could work with all of them and achieve the results that we would have tried to achieve. (…) I think the candidates were good, adequate. I envisioned them on my computer. And I could say exactly the same about Dainiai Kreivis and A. Dulkis, ”he emphasized.

When asked if his “blacklist” had changed during Friday’s meeting with G. Nausėda, I. Šimonytė said he should not be asked about blacklists.

“The statements, as you have heard yourself in the public sphere, have been made about probably absolutely all the candidates, except G. Gandberg. How should I evaluate this? Does that mean it’s a thirteen candidate blacklist? We probably don’t appreciate it that way. Perhaps we can appreciate that for each candidate, and perhaps me, it would also be possible to have many different observations. We appreciate it as a comment, ”said the Prime Minister.

The prime minister did not attend.

G.Nausėda claimed that the candidates who did not like it were not bad or did not understand their roles, people were preparing and presenting the vision, but they could not quite do it.

The President explained that he could not take responsibility for the implementation of the short- and long-term goals of K. Adomaitis and D.Miniataitė.

“Due to lack of vision, lack of good knowledge of the main problems of the sector”, motivated G. Nausėda why the candidacy was not adequate.

He said he would sign a decree on the government no later than Tuesday.
