On December 18, a Lithuanian shared a video showing a 28-second clip of a BBC report on COVID-19 vaccination in the UK. At one point, you can see a doctor vaccinating a person, but when you remove the syringe from the person’s hand, you don’t see the needle anywhere. Then an English text appears on the screen asking: “Where did the needle go?”
The Lithuanian herself commented on this video as follows: “21st century performance is gaining momentum …”.
This video is spreading extremely fast – as of December 21, 19,000 have been shared since then. people, on December 22 – already 35 thousand. Since the report and inscription are in English, it is not surprising that it is not only shared by Lithuanians.
The video has almost 2,000 comments – some laugh and tag their friends to see this video. Other Internet users bluntly write that it is a simple needle with protection to prevent medical personnel from accidentally stabbing and becoming infected with contaminated needles. However, without knowing anything about such needles, it is possible to form the opinion that people in the UK are not vaccinated and are just pretending to be getting the vaccine. This is also indicated in the author’s note in which she uses the word “performance”.
Confusing information
It is conspiracy theory that claims that the entire pandemic is simply simulated, false, that it is widespread throughout the world. However, this is just a theory of lies: COVID-19 and the virus that causes it really do exist and take the lives of thousands of people around the world every day.
The BBC also responded to the report, which became a tool for conspiracy theorists. This is exactly the passage from your report.
According to the BBC, the BBC News report is now being used as “proof” on social media that COVID-19 vaccines are fake. The BBC notes that this information is actively shared by those who are against vaccination. They claim that dummy syringes with “disappearing needles” are used during vaccination and that this is a way of promoting a non-existent vaccine.
According to the BBC, the fake recordings use real video images showing doctors using a protective syringe for vaccines. After using the syringe, the needle fits inside the syringe. As already mentioned, the goal is to protect medical personnel and patients from injury and infection. These syringes have been widely used in the UK for over a decade.
So without knowing these facts, one can form the opinion that the syringes are fake. However, as the facts already show, both the syringes and the vaccine are real and it is not some kind of “performance”.
