“I was born and raised in nature, near Vilnius, Lake Gėla and the Neris, and since my studies I have lived in the capital and have been a full-fledged person,” Renata begins.
Eight years ago, a woman tired of the rhythm, bustle and noise of the city fled to Anykščiai to be closer to nature. There he founded his own natural cosmetics company, and the brand “Odorata” created by him has already become known not only in Lithuania, but also abroad. In 5 years, the company had grown and Renata decided to dive into even deeper waters.

“Besides business, I also had many hobbies. I have been a swimmer for many years. While still living in Vilnius, I ran nature camps for children, I was attracted to natural medicine, yoga and a healthy lifestyle, so I also converted these hobbies at work and I combined them into one, because they are all connected by nature.
It seemed to me that the spa had to appear somewhere in the Anykščiai forests, in nature, but life arose when I met a young business couple who had bought and restored a house in the green area of Anykščiai, where we settled . . The biggest boost came from quarantine and pandemics. I realized that there is no need to hide in the forest, but to be visible and help people seeking help experiencing emotional, psychological, spiritual or physical ailments to discover wholeness / health within themselves.
Those who choose entertainment and recreation in the forest specifically seek it out and know its value, and I wanted the opportunity to be found by people in the city who are less likely to be in or have less contact with nature. I see that the project has given very good results, because it is also possible to create and experience nature in the city ”, smiles Renata.
Located in the heart of the city
When you hear Odorata Nature Spa, you probably have the image of a magnificent building next to a forest with a swimming pool, but it does not correspond to reality.
“We are in Anykščiai, we are located in the city park. We discover nature in the heart of the city. It sounds interesting, but our desire to show that nature is everywhere, we are part of it, we want to share everything that It offers us: medicinal herbs, natural cosmetics and the healing touches of our hands. The place is very quiet, the city park, so the traffic is minimal. Here it is quiet, cozy and green.
He wants to bring the city as close to nature as possible, as if it were going to eat from a plate. Our natural spa is a fragrant green oasis surrounded by birdsong, right in the center of the city. It is a space for deep experiences, discoveries, cures, educations, production of natural cosmetics, sacred rest. There are many beautiful activities that take place here, all of which are interconnected. And the main backbone is nature, ”says Renata.
Even after founding a spa, Renata does not forget about the production of natural cosmetics. However, it is not for nothing that they have the Anykščiai Regional Park brand and, as she herself says, they have become the calling card of Anykščiai meadows and fields.
“Four of us work and everything we do we do with our own hands. We provide health services with our special oils. Our goal is for a person to experience many things in a short time: have a quality rest, gain strength, relax and enjoy the inner silence and feel like a week of vacation.
The main tools of our work are the sounds of our hands, aromas, plants, oils, brooms and sacred musical instruments. We also organize educational programs. Health programs for women, men, children and employees of various companies are also carried out on site.
We greet the body, mind and soul with natural things: we bathe, massage, bake bread, collect plants, make cosmetics, meditate, and do natural beauty treatments. It is important that we use the natural resources of Anykščiai meadows and forests. Therefore, we are a natural spa, you will not find spa facilities or jacuzzi“Everything with us is simple, beautiful, aesthetic,” he says modestly.
Lying on the floor is a challenge
Renata smiles, it is very important that the guests come home. The green house of the spa itself glows with warmth. There are also the smallest details that combine into an extraordinary experience:
“We strive to ensure that everyone receives a lot of personal attention and feels comfortable and safe. Various grasslands help us to do that: only by entering can you feel how the spaces smell. Of course, we also have small details, we also have a small nursery where we grow salads so that our customers can taste and have fun.
From personal experience I can say that the answers to the questions that concern us, the causes of diseases, crises, losses and the possibilities of solving them, are within us. And nature helps to listen to your interior. Clearly, that era of pandemics and disease is different because people are so scared. In most cases, people protect themselves too much. As I myself live in nature and walk by the Šventoji river every day, I see that people have a need to go to nature and how many of them are in the meadows or on the river banks. “
However, Renata noted that people looking for a natural refuge sometimes protect themselves too much from it, for example, sparingly spraying them with insects, ticks, applying chemical creams from the sun excessively, fearful of sitting on the grass or taking off their clothes. shoes while swimming. on the Prairie.
“It strikes me that the whole pandemic situation has scared people so much that they are afraid of real things. Everywhere he sees only danger and unfortunately he sees no possibilities for self-help. When I run programs in the sauna and take people out with fresh brooms, I relax my mind and body, soak in the scents, and then lead me to lie on the floor; some have. terrible challenge to lie down on the grass. Some of these experiences, lying on soft, fragrant grass, have not survived and therefore fear mosquitoes, ticks, dirt, and bodily discomfort.
It seems that here it is terrible, because it is our mother Earth, our breadwinner, but it is not usual for a person to overcome that discomfort and experience life with all his being, spend the energy of the earth and get out of it. Since the heat of the sauna “turns off” the head, it is very difficult to experience a moment of happiness. I ask you to smell the earth, breathe in the fresh spring grass to see the birch trees or the pigeons pass over your head. It seems such simple things, but it contributes so much … It is a moment of fusion with nature.
It seems simple and elementary, but at the same time extraordinary. We try to show that there are other forms of rest, very sacred, very subtle and there is enough nature and a reliable satellite to reach them ”, says the woman.
Nature as medicine
“People in the city, due to the rhythm of life, normal tension, stress, anxiety, sometimes forget to stop, look up at the sky, look around and enjoy the beauty of nature. Few know that nature can heal. That milk is edible and St. John’s wort is a Lithuanian antidepressant.
When we meet people, we treat them to delicacies, such as herbal cocktails, with flowers. At first, they are attracted to the taste and smell. Only when people taste it do we tell them what they are made of. Many are surprised, ”says Renata.
The woman says that, first of all, customers try to be interested in the colors, the aesthetic appearance of the dish or drink. Taste and smell become a bait for customers to try new things.
“A frequent client chooses the procedures based on their experience or preferences. Sometimes I hear that they don’t like massages or saunas. So I ask you, would you like to experience something surprisingly pleasant, or would you allow us to accompany you on a unique journey of the senses? Then I close the brooms with hot water, light a wooden stick in Palo Santo, swim in the infusions and accompany me to a cozy space where a smiling masseuse or a bathhouse awaits me. And then everything happens naturally, according to the needs and possibilities of the client.
Experienced what the real sauna means, customers joke that it is better to call this procedure not a sauna, but a soul cleanse. In fact, our procedures don’t always measure up to what people expect. When you listen to a “massage”, you usually think that it is only the muscles of the body that relax the movements of your hands.
The massages we offer are not only for muscles, they are deep and sacred, touching the most remote corners of the Soul, releasing established feelings and emotions, giving inner freedom and space to creation. We are breaking the standards of regular massage, ”he says.
Renata admits that the activities they do in the heart of Anykščiai can seem very specific and strange, but she thinks it is very necessary. And for her, it is not a job, but a way of life and self-fulfillment. After all, when you give, you get … And these energy exchanges make life meaningful.
“We live in a time when it is increasingly difficult to experience relaxation or joy. We get very sick and often feel unhappy. We are unable to survive the moments of the present, so we worry about the future. We rush and We forget the essentials about who we are, why we live and what it all means, we get very sick and often feel unhappy.
Because I work with people, I see that the young are no longer healthy and suffer from the diseases of the elderly. It is time to change the culture of leisure and recreation, self-awareness about health. A Japanese man who came to Anykščiai several times, who wrote a book on forest therapy, has been treating psychological problems in nature for a long time in Japan.
Forest therapy is very common and its effects are described in science. We have clean air, flowering meadows, green forests and clean water in Lithuania: this is our health and our “hospital”, says Renata.
