Huawei issued such comments in response to a statement by Dan Stromberg, CEO of Telia Lietuvos, that the company was refusing to cooperate with its Chinese partner due to the geopolitical situation.
“For the past ten years, we have been cooperating closely with our partners Telia to implement a high-quality and secure digital infrastructure in Lithuania. That is why we regret that business decisions are so influenced by geopolitical pressures. ” 15 minutes Ricky Chen, Huawei’s head of Baltics, said in a comment.
According to him, during ten years of operations in Lithuania, Huawei has focused and will be focused on “providing the best, most innovative and secure 5G and other digital services to its customers.”
We sincerely hope that in the future, business activities will not be limited by geopolitical beliefs, and that a fair and open market with a level playing field for all vendors will be restored, “said a Huawei spokesperson.
“Such a step would be beneficial both for the digitization of Lithuania and for the entire community,” he added.
In early November, Telia announced a strategic partnership with the Swedish company Ericsson for the development of 5G in Lithuania.
In an interview with the head of Telia Lietuvos, published on Monday by the BNS news agency, he stated that this means that Huawei’s equipment will not be on the company’s 4G and 5G networks that are being developed in Lithuania.
“The reason we are abandoning Huawei is a geopolitical situation. We thought it was the right time to do so, as Ericsson is a good strategic partner. We are cooperating with them in Sweden as well as in Estonia,” said D. Stromberg .

According to him, Telia was very satisfied with the quality and support of Huawei’s equipment, but “it is as is”.
“We kept our promises, we complied with regulations and this is the reason why we feel that now is the right time to change,” said Telia Lietuvos head.
The beauty of Ericsson equipment is its much lower power consumption, so it is also good from a sustainability perspective. We believe that Ericsson is of the highest quality in some respects, “he added.
