3×3 basketball experienced a changeable year in 2020, although the pandemic led to a yearlong scramble for entry to the Tokyo Olympics, where trio basketball will debut as an Olympic sport, last year helped the sport grow in popularity and expand the list of eligible. basketball players. A record budget has been established for this purpose during the association’s operating period.

The 3×3 Hoptrans tournament organized by the 3×3 Basketball Association, the Lithuanian Basketball League and the Lithuanian Basketball Federation has been breaking the silence on the basketball courts since March 2020, attracting the attention of fans around the world.

After this tournament, Utena’s Juventus-Uniclub Casino jumped into the ranks of the planet’s elite teams, joining Šakiai Swan’s men. For the first time on the FIBA ​​World Tour stage we had two Lithuanian teams, and in the final stage Utena’s team reached the historic 3rd place.

Preparations were also made for the European Under-17 Championship, which was attended by representatives of our country. A special tournament was held to select them.

Last year, the 3×3 basketball association managed to raise 434.4 thousand. income in euros. Sources of income – support (249 thousand), advertising income (64.7 thousand), advertising exchange, refunds (10.7 thousand) and FIBA ​​prize funds (110 thousand). This amount does not include the additional support of the Lithuanian Basketball Federation: the federation has spent an additional 45 thousand euros for the development of basketball.

The association’s costs in 2020 amounted to almost 495 thousand. euros. A little more than 8 thousand were allocated for the maintenance of the administration. 6.7 thousand euros for the rest of the staff, 16.6 thousand for public relations and marketing.

The trips of the FIBA ​​3×3 world tour and the cash prizes transferred to the teams were estimated at almost 110 thousand, the FIBA ​​licenses – 10.5 thousand.

The objective of the association will continue to be the development of this sport, not the search for profits. Investments are also planned in the acquisition of fixed assets, 3×3 basketball infrastructure.

The goal will be to create a budget that is at least 10% higher than last year, thus ensuring smooth continuity of projects and meeting new targets. One of them is the appearance of professional 3×3 teams, which will appear in the Lithuanian 3×3 basketball championship from April for the first time in the country’s history.
