Hill: what money and a good life smell like in Nida

The creators of these perfumes were unaware of Nida, the Curonian Spit, and perhaps even Lithuania. This formula is already 18 years old, so it is now an adult. Nor does the best perfume have to be available to everyone. When they become accessible to everyone, the interest disappears. That’s why Ralph Lauren fashion houses and scents rarely cost anything, and they do it well. Pigs don’t need pearl scattering.

And yet, this marine scent from the famous American fashion house is ideal for all the good life in Nida, where Lithuanian prices and troubled and anxious mood are no longer valid. It’s good to be on this island of the rich, the pizzerias and the best people, where ferry prices and even a modest eco-tax retain at least some of the mass of plankton.

How to get a fresh aroma of the sea? It is achieved from things that are not necessarily related to sea water or pine trees at all, specifically here it starts with the aromas of melon and cucumber.

The perfume was created by two masters: one of them, with a truly non-French surname and first name, Carlos Benaim, is a complete genius and one of my inspirers. He is an American born in Morocco. He owns the original green Ralph Lauren Polo (1978), which I wrote about here. This was my first perfume review at Delfi, almost two years ago.

Carlos Benaim created the essence of Calvin Klein eternity, which I told him was so incomprehensibly erotic that it was even indecent to talk about him. He also owns the dark, obscenely ecclesiastical and sinful Polo Supreme Oud by Ralph Lauren, which I wrote about as erotic in church, and there were the words: listen to the organ and the sermon, and think of something else entirely. Vetiver is a mild but stubborn soap smell with which they wash their bodies in front of the church ”.

He also created Carolina Herrera for Men, one of the best freshness and spice alloys, which was later second only to Chanel Platinum Egoiste.

The second creator of Polo Blue is Christophe Laudamiel, a Frenchman whose nose is owned by Abercrombie & Fitch – Fierce, so versatile in America that he feels lonely when coming to a clothing store. He has created everything and more, but I have not written reviews on all of them. I don’t have a typewriter or sniff.

So Polo Blue starts with melons, sweet and scented with honey, tangerines and cucumbers. There is also basil and some flowers, but white, not pink. And everything dries into strange things: washed velvet, moss and lichen, ambergris, wood, patchouli, and musk. And from all this arises the smell of the sea and the thoughts of a spa. A perfume that smells of money and has no financial worries because in life everything is going well and will be even better. When shoes don’t get stained, they just get caught in the wet sand on the beach. These perfumes have been with me since I first bought them in London eighteen years ago, and now I have brought the same fragrance to Nida (those first ones a long time ago) and I couldn’t give her better.
