Health Minister A. Dulkys: new quarantine restrictions will be related to mobility

A.Dulkys affirmed that Friday’s meeting with experts was long and complete, the meetings continue before the Government meeting scheduled for Sunday.

“The numbers that we have now in Lithuania do not speak in our favor. Yesterday, I was upset by the experts’ statement that for the figures that currently exist in Lithuania, they do not even find research, studies that can advise on how to proceed,” said the minister on Saturday after meeting with Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonyte.

We desperately have to do everything so that traceability, self-isolation, this whole process does not exceed 48 hours, we desperately have to ensure that the number of positive tests of all the tests carried out, without reducing its scope, does not exceed 5%. And fight so that the size of the reproduction is such that one hundred people do not infect more than one hundred, ”A. Dulkys told the Government on Saturday.

According to the minister, if all this is achieved and these measures come into effect, it can be said that the situation is being managed.

A. Dulkys assured that the new stricter measures, suggested by the experts, will be related to mobility, ensuring the functionality of medical institutions, streamlining the processes of the National Center for Public Health (NVSC), nursing and other institutions of the group of risk.

According to the minister, the exact measurements will be named on Sunday.

“We have to understand that this goal is not until Christmas. We all need to achieve that. How quickly we achieve it will depend on all of us. And dreaming that you can relax for Christmas and New Years, make no mistake,” said A. Dulkys.

The minister assured that on Friday no decisions were made due to procedures.

“Today a structure is being put together, groups and committees are being created to take on these things. I think they will be accepted tomorrow, ”said A. Dulkys.

“It is not said here that we will set limits for two weeks. The point here is that (they) will be needed for a longer period,” he added.

During the last day 3303 new cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Lithuania, 27 people died from COVID-19, the Department of Statistics reported on Saturday.
