For example, a doctor works full time at one institution and part time at another. If both parties decided also, that is, and. the employer and the employee agree to follow the above recommendations, which means that the doctor would work all these hours in one institution, for example for three weeks, and the rest of the week in another, where he would work the remaining hours. This means that a doctor can work in one institution at a time and then in another at a time.
Aurelijus Veryga, the head of state operations at the state emergency level, notes that this is a recommendation, not an obligation.
“It just caught our eye then. Our goal is to avoid as much cross-contamination as possible between medical institutions and between employees, as well as between employees and patients. These recommendations are intended as a guide for the heads of medical institutions on how to organize the Institutions work to prevent the possible spread of this insidious virus, “says Minister A. Veryga.
It was decided to provide such recommendations after evaluating the specific situation in Lithuania, where a frequent doctor works in various institutions.
“It should be understood that if these recommendations are not followed, and if a physician working at multiple workplaces becomes infected with a coronavirus, the chance of the infection spreading would be greatly increased.” And this means that if necessary, all colleagues who have been in contact or even closed wards of medical institutions would be isolated. Incidentally, there have already been similar cases in Lithuania to control the spread of this insidious virus, for example in Ukmergė, Panevėžys, “says Minister A. Veryga.
According to the Deputy Minister of Health, Lina Jaruševičienė, the cycle is understood as a work episode that covers the number of working hours in the current month, which takes place continuously in a medical institution.
“This means that if you choose to organize work this way, a doctor who has only worked the number of work hours per month in one institution would go to work in another institution to work the required workload for that month.” It is also important that employers, having found an opportunity and an agreed work schedule, ensuring minimal contacts between employees, the safety of employees and patients, and the traceability of contacts, ensure that the possible spread of the virus is avoided, ” says Deputy Minister L. Jaruševičienė.
According to her, the work cycle cannot be calculated for a day when you work in one institution in the morning and in another in the afternoon. To minimize cross contamination, it is necessary to add up all the hours of the month and work one cycle in one establishment and then work in another.
SAM notes that, of course, this must be done in accordance with labor law. The procedure for coordinating work schedules in accordance with the Collective Branch Agreement must be coordinated with the union that has signed the Branch Agreement that operates in the institution, if applicable. It is important to note that, although each institution is specific, with different working time arrangements in its internal legislation, the head of the institution is responsible for ensuring infection control in the institution.
