The Ministry of Education, Science and Sport (ŠMSM) has reached out to health professionals for recommendations on how to safely organize an exam session.

“We have passed them, we will now inform the enrollment examiners as well as the students themselves. It is important to us that we all know this, and we can start preparing to ensure the safety of students and employees at the start of exams,” Minister A. Monkevičius said at a remote press conference.

To the exam – with a mask

The main session of the maturity exam will begin on June 22. As before, in order to obtain a maturity certificate, it will be necessary to pass two exams: a compulsory Lithuanian language and literature and an optional one.

Until May 18th. Graduates will still be able to refine their chosen maturity exams by giving up those they do not intend to take after evaluating their future plans or prospects for further learning.

The Ministry of Health has recommended that a minimum distance of 2 meters be guaranteed between candidates and examiners during examinations, with a minimum of 10 square meters per person when there are more than 9 people in an examination room.

Disposable masks, ventilation of facilities, cleaning of computer equipment after each use are also to be provided, and it is planned to prohibit candidates from sharing stationery, etc.

All recommendations are published in the updated description of the organization and the conduct of maturity reviews. You can find it here.

These conditions will be implemented together with the municipalities.

Health is important

National Education Agencies l. and. Asta Ranonytė, Deputy Director, said at the conference that graduate exams will be organized on the premises: hallways, classrooms, offices.

The facilities must be prepared and cleaned no later than 12 hours before the start of the maturity exam of the subject or its part.

When organizing cleaning of facilities at test centers, it is recommended to take into account the recommendations prepared by SAM for cleaning of facilities during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the Minister, employees of national level institutions, municipal administrations, school leaders and teachers are currently doing everything possible to prepare for the successful organization of the maturity examination session.

“The exams will be carried out in accordance with all personal protection measures: health is important. The schedule has been announced, the session will end in August, current trends are favorable, we will start a little later, but without problems”, A Monkevičius is convinced.
