“The ministry has legitimized the decision,” Aistė Šuksta, a spokesman for the health minister, told BNS on Tuesday morning.
“Last night, we finished finalizing the document according to the comments and we published it. This means that from today it is possible to register for the third, intensifying, both through koronastop.lt and by phone 1808”, he confirmed On Tuesday morning, the Minister of Health, Arūnas Dulkys, on radio lrt.
He told lrt television on Monday that the vaccination would begin in mid-September.
The booster dose will be given to people who work in the health system, nursing and nursing facilities, as well as people over 65 years of age. Vaccination will only be possible at least half a year after vaccination according to the full schedule.
Residents will be vaccinated with the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines.
Revaccination of the population is initiated by scientific studies that have shown that the levels of antibodies against the coronavirus in the body decrease dramatically six months after vaccination.
According to A. Dulkis, it is considered that in the long run the entire population that can be vaccinated will be re-vaccinated.
“At the national level, three studies have been carried out, specifically on those groups of people who were the first to be vaccinated since December 27 of last year. It was these studies that showed a very marked decrease in protection six months after the second dose. This means that it seems that we can extrapolate this vaccination to other groups by analogy. We will consult with scientists and experts, maybe we need to do something else here, ”said the minister.
Aurelija Žvirblienė, a professor at the Vilnius University Faculty of Medicine, said that in the future vaccinations against COVID-19 may become periodic and that people, especially young people, could be vaccinated again not necessarily every year, but every two or three years.
Recipients of the vaccine in different countries will receive a COVID certificate from the EU – SAM
People who have received the COVID-19 vaccine in different countries will soon be able to obtain COVID certificates from the European Union, the Ministry of Health (SAM) informed BNS.
Currently, these people cannot get a passport for the opportunities, even if they are fully vaccinated. So far, the ministry has recommended that they use two certificates confirming receipt of each of the vaccines.
However, it is promised that in the near future they will be able to provide data on vaccines received abroad and obtain a COVID-19 certificate.
“Currently, the Registry Center is implementing the possibility of entering data on vaccinations carried out abroad and COVID-19 diagnosed abroad in the electronic health system, when it was confirmed by a positive PCR test. This functionality will be operational as of this month and EU COVID Digital Certificates will be issued to those who have been vaccinated or sick abroad who have presented documents that confirm these facts, “said the ministry.
In Lithuania, this certificate, obtained after a vaccination or illness, is equivalent to a passport for opportunities, so that people can get all contact activities with him.
According to the ministry, it is currently coordinating how this function will work in practice. These people are expected to be able to obtain a COVID certificate starting this week.
Starting September 13, most services will only be available to those who have acquired immunity after a vaccine or illness, or who have a negative PCR test.
