On Sunday afternoon, the rain clouds looming over Trakai Castle are gradually receding, and as the sun sets, the crowd around the lake grows. Soon, a truly unconventional show awaits townspeople and guests. The fanfare of the wind orchestras will announce the beginning of the commemoration of the 610th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald.

Trumpets from the Trimitas orchestra sound in the campaign “Galvės vario banga” to be held in Trakai, the Capital of Culture of Lithuania in 2020. They were joined by young people: Vilnius residents “Jovaras” and the School Orchestra of Rūdiškės Music “Valery Brass”. The concert seems to be entertaining not only by the listeners, but also by the musicians themselves, who not only have to play, but also control the pedal boats so they don’t swim anywhere. The head of Trimitas, the teacher Ugnius Vaiginis, does not hide the fact that the ensemble missed the concert, and there is no doubt that the compatriots who escaped from quarantine are looking forward to all the live performances. Well, while water cycling is a challenge and an experience, and of course an emotion.

“Those emotions are difficult for children and adults to control, because they probably had to play on water bikes for the first time. And so is the weather, the environment. It is a wonderful experience and I wish the organizers have the resistance. to make the project a continuation, ”says Ugnius Vaiginis, the head of Trimitas.

One of the creators of the event, Aringas Šumskas, says that a decade ago, during the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Grunwald, orchestras, choirs and soloists were invited to Trakai, but at that time the artists did not dare to plant bicycles.

“I have organized an exclusive jazz festival on the water. As I work in a music school and we have a great youth wind orchestra, and I practically live in the water in the summer, I thought why not organize a party, which no one has done yet, ”says organizer Aringas Šumskas.

This spectacular performance in the water could become a record. A concert of 100 musicians commemorating water bikes is expected to be recorded in the Guinness Book of Records.
