49 LTOK General Assembly participants voted for the Sydney 2000 Olympic champion, and his competitor received 17 votes.

Mr. Gudzinevičiūtė also elected as Secretary General of the LTOK Valentinas Paketūras, who has held this position so far, who received 54 votes in favor of the 66 possible votes in the General Assembly.

The General Assembly approved the president of the Sailing Union Naglis Nasvytis, the president of the Skating Federation Lilija Vanagienė and the director of the Lithuanian Association of Masters of Sport Penki Žiedai Saulius Galadauskas as vice-presidents of LTOK elected by Mr. Gudzinevičiūtė.

Darius Čerka, president of the Volleyball Federation nominated by D. Gudzinevičiūtė, has been approved as LTOK Treasurer, and Inga Navickienė, director of the Table Tennis Association, has been elected to the Executive Committee on the proposal of the president.

Although the Sports Law requires that the country’s sports federations establish in their statutes the maximum number of consecutive executive terms, the LTOK has no such restriction.

The only limit is that all LTOK members, including representatives of the governing bodies, must resign at the age of 70.

We remind you that D. Gudzinevičiūtė was elected president of LTOK for the first time in 2012 in place of her predecessor Artūras Poviliūnas. He then surpassed another Olympic champion, former discus thrower Virgilijus Aleknas, in the elections.

In 2016, Mr. Gudzinevičiūtė secured his second term without running for election.

In 2018, the former athlete became a member of the International Olympic Committee (IOC).

In turn, E. Vaitkaitis, 40, previously announced that he will no longer hold a new term as president of the Swimming Federation, regardless of the electoral core of the LTOK.
