The Ministry of Health (SAM) proposes that the government prohibit groups of more than two people; currently, groups of no more than five people can join. No more than two people can participate in non-formal education activities, subject to other necessary conditions. These conditions must also be observed in the provision of accommodation services and the organization of religious ceremonies.
It is proposed to prohibit trade in shops, supermarkets and temporary points of sale installed in places of provision of services, that is, when it is not carried out in physically separated shops, but in common supermarkets’ premises and passages. There would be no restrictions on trade in foodstuffs, pyrotechnics and commercial islands.
It is also recommended to recommend that stores, supermarkets, markets and other public outlets and service points do not carry out sales, hourly discounts, tastings and other measures that increase the flow of buyers and visitors at a specific time in a certain place. This would not apply to online trading.
The SAM government is also seeking approval to purchase coronavirus vaccines from the American biotech company Moderna. According to the acting Minister of Health, Aurelijus Veryga, it is planned to buy almost 500 thousand. doses of vaccines.
Lithuania has already decided to buy vaccines from five companies: AstraZeneca, Janssen Pharmaceutica NV, Sanofi and GSK, BioNTech and Pfizer and CureVac.
It is planned to buy enough vaccines to vaccinate 70% of them. the country’s population, but due to existing agreements and efforts to reduce risks, much more will be purchased than the entire population would need. Unused vaccines will be available for sale or donation to third parties.
The second quarantine for the rapid spread of the coronavirus in Lithuania was introduced on November 7 for three weeks, but it lasted until mid-December without the situation improving.
During the quarantine it is forbidden to swarm, it is necessary to wear masks in public places, cafes, bars, restaurants and other places of entertainment, health and recreation services are not open. The restrictions also apply to healthcare, retail outlets, educational institutions, public transportation, and other areas.
The government has allowed small groups of people to open museums, galleries and tours since December 10, but has not ruled out that the decision could be changed.
