Founded in 2001, Global Airways is based in Johannesburg and offers aircraft leasing services to other airlines. It operates seven Airbus A320s and three Airbus A340s.
The company intended to build a new aircraft maintenance center at Kaunas airport a few years ago, but construction has not started.
The aviation sector has been particularly affected this year by the coronavirus pandemic, which has caused a sharp drop in flights around the world.
