G. Liaudanskas-Svaras, a member of the Union of Rifles, is currently volunteering at the Vilnius Antakalnis clinics and resuscitating the Santarai clinics, assisting doctors fighting the pandemic and caring for those recovering. , according to a press release. He maintains that volunteering and citizenship are inseparable concepts.

“Volunteering helps me feel like a person in society. Especially in this time of pandemic, I feel the meaning of what I do. I could only do my own work or creativity, but when there is such a situation in the country, I cannot sit back and wait, ”says Svaras.

According to him, there are many different theories and concepts that could be used to describe citizenship. For Gabriel, this is mainly related to love of the country and volunteering.

“The desire to be a good and useful person is in our minds. By thinking, seeing examples, accumulating experience, you realize that you always have enough time to do unpaid work. That is work for the benefit of the country, without seeking any material or intangible remuneration, and it is citizenship ”, says the creator.

Sharing his thoughts on citizenship, G. Liaudanskas-Svaras emphasizes that caring for your homeland begins with the simplest things: warm greetings, communication with family, friends, classmates, learning, and personal development.

“The fact that students go to school, study, prepare to become specialists, seek education, try to increase their vision of the world, their skills, their thinking, all this is very important for the benefit of the country. Every country needs smart people, specialists who know how to work and want to work, ”says Svaras.

“What is easier: pretend and not notice that another needs help, or to help you? Is it easier to play on the computer at home or go to the Food Bank to volunteer? Watch a movie or visit the animals left in the shelter anyway? All of this is equally easy to do. You just have to want it yourself, ”says the director of the charity and support fund.

According to S. Gurevičius, people don’t often mention volunteering not because it is difficult, but because it is not their priority.

“If you decide to get closer, then you have chosen to make a difference in the world and be part of it. Volunteering is very broad and varied, from your personal initiatives, such as helping a neighbor or managing the environment, to cooperating with large organizations. ”Says S. Gurevičius.

According to Lithuanian law, after obtaining parental permission, you can become a volunteer from the age of 14. The director of the Food Bank notes that all volunteers, regardless of their age, are united by something important: a sense of specialty.

“After doing what is closest to the heart, the volunteers feel that they have grown, they have become bigger. It is a secret force of volunteering, but it is known to someone who has tried to volunteer at least once, ”Simon shares his experience.
