“The year went by pretty quickly, I thought they would last longer,” G. Nausėda started the conference and said he could calmly look the Lithuanian people in the eye, because what was promised before the elections was not forgotten.

When asked what he would change after the Seimas elections to form a new government, President G. Nausėda said he would raise criteria of professionalism, competence and honesty for future ministers, who were also deemed important last summer.
“Unfortunately, I have to be disappointed,” admitted G. Nausėda.
He hoped that the future prime minister would be intolerant of non-transparent activities and would be a support for the president, not a counterweight.
“I will be a beginning, I will have no problem rejecting as many candidates as necessary to obtain a suitable candidacy,” said G. Nausėda.
The president assured that it could be that he would have to work with Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis himself after the Seimas elections, but he hoped that by then he would be a better ally.
The president hoped that the election campaign would highlight differences between parties that would allow people to choose.
When asked what he had learned over the years and how his relationships with ministers and other politicians would change, the president said: “I don’t know if they noticed, but their skin became thicker.”
He also testified that he learned to value facts rather than words.
The president regretted that he could not avoid misunderstandings, such as the incident on July 6, when Ąžuoliukas choristers near his wetland. He assured the chorus girls to invite him to the presidency and discuss how to avoid such situations.

During the year, G.Nausėda made 18 visits abroad, prepared 14 draft amendments to the laws, vetoed ten laws, of which the Seimas rejected two.
