The Orlen gas station network in Lithuania implements a new business model and rejects discount cards throughout Lithuania. The new concept is based on greater customer orientation.
“We can offer our customers high quality at a lower price,” said Rafal Balazy, CEO of ORLEN Baltics Retail. – As a responsible company, we are in solidarity with the public and entrepreneurs. We understand the situation of people who have been forced to tighten their belts by the crisis. We want our clients to feel important. “
According to him, every customer who visits Orlen gas stations will now receive an attractive price for fuel and no discount cards. In addition, you will be pleasantly surprised by the laundry service campaign.
That got cheaper
Vakarų ekspresas noted that the numbers in the Orlen service station price list actually decreased, but this week in Klaipėda, the lowest-priced fuel in Klaipėda, fuel was still 2-3 cents more expensive than UAB Jozita, which traditionally dictates the fashion for the lowest prices on the local market at the gas station near Klaipeda.
Both Jozita and Saurida, who have a gas station in Klaipėda, do not attract customers with discount cards, but simply with the lowest price of fuel, which is usually applied when paying in cash. The goal is to save on bank fees.
Cards will not be rejected
However, Algirdas Liaudanskis, director of UAB Trevena, which operates a network of 12 service stations in western Lithuania, told Vakarų ekspresis that his company had no plans to give up discount cards.
“Of course, producing cards and managing the system costs money, but if we refused to do so, we would lose the opportunity to manage the information and meet our loyal customers,” says A. Liaudanskis.
According to him, the company promises new offers to customers, when the size of the discount will depend on the amount of fuel purchased.
“In Klaipeda, we notice that the big gas station networks sometimes fight in price wars, where we don’t even know what they depend on, sometimes it seems like it’s just the air of that day”, A. Liaudanskis cannot explain everything that happens . in the retail fuel market in the port city.
According to him, the prices at the gas stations are around 0.1 euros per liter and more sometimes vary simply depending on the district of the city where the gas station is located. However, Trevena does not react to those games and follows the wholesale market price of fuel when setting prices.
Exploring the market
“Recently, we have only been watching the market, we have no news about any development plans,” says A. Liaudanskis.
And Orlen mentions the ongoing processes of acquiring new service stations, but the situation is not specific.
“We are looking at many potential opportunities. We are interested in development in Lithuania as well as its western part. We choose locations and carry out preliminary procurement procedures, ”says R. Balazis.
Orlen currently operates a network of 29 service stations in Lithuania. Orlen has previously announced that it is considering installing electric car chargers, AdBlue car dispensers and digital advertising elements at service stations.
