“I was once frozen in a huge block of ice, where I stayed for almost three days, breaking the world record. Locked up and chained, I was underwater for over 15 minutes and was alive without air. After having survived half a century, I allowed him to be buried alive, ”says Arvydas Gaičiūnas, founder of the Magic Theater DiArchy, who survived the consequences of dangerous experiments.

He moved magic to paintings

Recently, A.Gaičiūnas magic has been his own paintings with the spice of magic, according to a press release.

In October, the magician planned a trip abroad, where he agreed to present his paintings at art exhibitions.

“My journey began in Paris, where I visited museums and art galleries. Then I arrived in Antwerp, Belgium, and later, at the Corona update ADAF 2020 annual art fair in Amsterdam at the Dutch World Fashion Center, I presented my works under the pseudonym Retne. In the paintings, I conveyed my thoughts, which speak of internal and external psychological struggles and the search for spiritual comfort, all of which were expressed through abstraction.

After that I went to Nice, where I decided to create some paintings. I bought canvas, paint and suddenly realized that I could not lift the brush. The hands just didn’t listen. I thought that at that moment I couldn’t perform a single magic trick, ”says Arvydas, who suffers from increasing pain with each passing day.

The second wave

Almost a month after the start of Arvydas’ journey, the COVID-19 virus again invaded the entire world and the second wave began.

The magician had to wait in Paris for the last few days before the flight home. “I was far from home, without friends, without close people, and the discomfort in the neck area turned into a sharp and unbearable pain. Helped by a local artist who has lived in Paris for many years. He took me to the doctor. After paying 85 euros for the consultation, I only received a prescription for drugs. Hoping the pain would go away, I took the pill. The result? Zero. I could not sit down, lie down, I only had one dream: to fall asleep. But sleeping was impossible, I could only move a little from one corner of the hotel room to another.

The journey home was very difficult and complicated as the French quarantine lockdown began. The previously booked airport transfer has been canceled. I got off the metro and got to the center, then from the Champs Elysees by taxi I just got to the airport. From there, I called Sister Diana and told myself about the situation. So while I was flying in the air, I was videotaped for a coronavirus test, an MRI, and a consultation with a neurosurgeon, “Arvydas recalls after receiving family support.

Arvydas the youngest, who was waiting at home, had to help his father, who was in pain. He not only needed to take care of the house, but also to be a therapist for a while. I had to learn to give myself injections and to put on compresses.

A modern implant is integrated during the operation.

Magnetic resonance imaging revealed a cervical intervertebral disc herniation that was advised to operate.

“When I arrived at the clinic, I counted the hours, minutes before the operation, I wanted to take away the pain and feel my hands. I was bothered by muscle aches, everything was slipping from my hands, I couldn’t turn my head and my neck wouldn’t bend, “he said.

The operation went smoothly, the hernia was removed and a metal implant was inserted into the spine.

“I imagined that the surgery would be done on the back. I was surprised to see a small scar on the front of my neck after surgery. The problems that had been bothering me for several months disappeared immediately after the operation, for which I am very grateful to the doctors, ”said Arvydas.

“After the rehabilitation course at Druskininkai, I can now easily control my arms and move my shoulders. Before falling asleep on the operating table, I had a wish that after the operation I would have the skills of Leonardo da Vinci hands and could paint masterpieces, admits the artist. “Now I am ready to create magical masterpieces!”
