“In the first place, it is established that the decisions of the operations manager, including the use of masks indoors, would be binding regardless of whether the activities are carried out with or without a passport and would not be of an advisory nature.” said Health Minister Arūnas Dulkys during the Government meeting.
He pointed out that the previously existing exceptions are maintained: masks are not mandatory for the disabled if they have to use them due to their state of health, providing services that cannot be provided with a mask, as well as for eating in public catering establishments, as well like In cinemas.
“The responsibility for non-compliance with the mask requirement would lie with customers and users of the service. We also recommend by resolution that both public and private legal entities organize the work remotely. These changes would take effect on Friday”, the minister presented the amendments.
The Cabinet of Ministers approved these amendments to the resolution on the declaration of emergency at the state level.
The hardening was confirmed due to the rapid spread of the delta strain of the coronavirus and the unfavorable epidemiological situation in Lithuania.
“Currently, 67.7 percent of the Lithuanian population is immunized against COVID-19 (vaccinated or relapsing), but the number of immunized people is still insufficient to control the spread of the virus,” the statement read.
The authorities returned the mandatory masks due to the deterioration of the epidemiological situation. To date, passive masks are recommended for passport holders.
Last week, Lithuania entered the worst “black” zone of the pandemic.
